Illya er.. (Sorry) Ducky and 'MFU'

How about someone posting an online survey requesting the writers script an episode wherein 'Ducky' meets up again with Napoleon Solo at the tailor's shop - something to do with a cold-case murder investigation going back to his 'previous life' in U.N.C.L.E. ?

Abby could track a mysterious radio signal, on a disused band, which leads her to the morgue where 'Mr Palmer' hears a faint beeping noise coming from a secret compartment in Ducky's desk. As they try to open it Ducky walks in and, in 'his way', attempts to dissuade their investigation only to find a team of NSA snoops barging-in - also tracking the signal (to Ducky's desk) forcing Ducky to open it and reveal his U.N.C.L.E. pen.

"Open channel D" he says and they all here Napoleon urgently requesting 'Illya' meet him at U.N.C.L.E. headquarters (in NYC). NCIS could let some of the old writers in on this to fill in the rest.

CBS should face facts. Millions of 'baby boomers' began watching this show due to David's presence and are constantly vigilant for any hint of references to 'The Man From U.N.C.L.E.'

Besides, in developing characters for a (hopefully) long running series, it's always best to build them a past they (the character) can reference to once in a while. Adding an element of a previously unknown past just makes them all the more attractive to the viewers. Adding a past that ALREADY has a massive audience serves to amplify the attraction to their present role.

Let' face it - Hollywood basically re-releases classics (TV and cinema) under new names and with different actors because of past earnings success. Many films use the SAME scripts - slightly revised (Total Recall, Judge Dredd, etc) but with updated technology. Heck, the 'Total Recall' of 2012 even uses the same lines as the old one!
"Open channel D" anyone?

I don't feel finding out that Ducky was a past spy would be appropriate. He was a doctor in Afghanistan which was found out in Broken Bird. UNCLE would be copy-right and using an actors past television character to boost a different television show would be totally inappropriate and out of place. It would seem to be a bit of a desperate way to boost NCIS.
A remark about Open Channel D could be said, perhaps by Palmer at some stage. The writers have added in little bits of these quips from time to time.

I agree with Bells but it might be kind of fun to have Jimmy say "Open channel D" in some context with a grin on his face. When Ducky questions the statement, Jimmy would explain, "It's from The Man from U.N.C.L.E." "Oh," Ducky might reply. "Never watched it." Do you find this valuable?

Similar thing happened when Ducky and Gibbs were talking one time about the serial killer Bundy (a real life serial killer) - I do not remember the exact words or the episode but Gibbs made a comment about not knowing something about Bundy that Ducky mentioned eventhough Harmon has played the role of Bundy in a made for TV movie in his earlier days.

Certainly it would be great to see them work together again, but some may argue that it would take away from the realism of any episode in which they would appear

Last time they worked together -as far as I know- was back in the 80s, when they appeared on the "A-Team". A show not greatly known for taking itself very seriously and open to parody.

Yea, there's that, but I just watched the TV film 'I Spy Returns' from 1994 ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ypks6zObl5Y ) in-which two much OLDER spies Kelly Robinson (Robert Culp) and Alexander Scott (Bill Cosby) reprized their rolls THIS TIME as fathers - safeguarding their rookie spy son and daughter and it brought back such happy memories I started tearing-up.

Of course they did it again in the old Bill Cosby show where airport baggage handler 'Hilton' is watching an 'I Spy' TV marathon and falls asleep dreaming HE is Alexander Scott. It's played for laughs but it DID give 'I Spy' fans a loving dose of memories - which was the reason I watched it back in 1999.

NCIS, like 'I Spy' and 'The Man From U.N.C.L.E.' are broadcast in syndication throughout the world and 'baby boomers' who grew-up watching I Spy and MFU (like myself) have fond memories of those shows from the '60s.

Personally, IF it were played straight, I'd like to see them back together again as U.N.C.L.E. agents again just as I'd like to see other NCIS characters reveal more of THEIR 'past lives'. Gibbs routinely has flash-backs to his days as a USMC sniper and THOSE are worked into the scripts as pertinent to the present-day time-line. Heck, his killing of a drug lord became the basis of several shows!

Sure 'The A Team' was created with a comical bent (witness Mad Dog Murdoch's relationship with BA Baraccus) and George Peppard's constant comedics.

As for Ducky working as a doctor in Afghanistan - watch 'Spies Like Us' (also a comedy) in-which spies posed as doctors.

Sorry but i am not for it. NCIS is about Naval crimes, not Cold War Spies or what other shows do. NCIS is on top in the ratings because they do their own stories, and their characters are different to other shows. Thankfully they keep within an acceptable range for love stories with out making it into a soap. Personally i would find it too much out of character and would throw too much of a different direction into the show, as changing Ducky into a past spy would be a dynamic show switch about him and not the team as is.
