the screen writers are boring me to tears. What happened to all the excitment this show used to contain. Please give Tony a rest and re-invent McGhee, Ziva and Gibbs. They are killing this show 1  out of 6 found this valuable. Do you?

It's interesting watching NCIS-LA back to back with the parent show.

The spin off, after an uncertain first season, has now found it's footing and its own identity. Helped greatly by the introduction of Deeks and Nell Jones last season, thus keeping the show feeling fresh and exciting.

Watching the latest episode, I was left feeling it is now at the point where NCIS was when it first began to really get popular, with the chemistry among the characters now properly in place.

The problem as I see it with NCIS is that it is now SO popular, the characters SO entrenched, that the shows' makers would seem reluctant to make too many changes to the line up as they see no reason to. I see this as dangerous in the long run.

As a result of this, it would appear to have become neccesary to expand the characters lives outside of the service to stretch seasons out, with the introduction of Fathers, Mothers, Grandmothers, Mothers in Law, Sisters, Brothers, etc, etc, and to justify these Soap Operish elements by shoehorning some into the criminal investigation side of things. To such a degree that it can appear contrived sometimes.

Change is as good as a rest and the show needs change. Not a great deal for now, but SOMETHING. A new regular character. Not someone who pops up one week and then disappears for half a season, or never returns, but is there on a permanent basis.

Over the years there have been several candidates who could fit the bill. Dwayne Wilson for example.

But it would appear the show is set in stone right now. So, it would still appear to be a case of "Newbies" not welcome here, for now at least.

Sorry to disagree. I am loving the show as it is. It has a good variety of stories, not too much soap opera stuff, and I like how it has progressed. There have been scenes I didn't partically like, but no writer can please everyone all the time. Tony occassionally gets 'on my goat' as I found his character to be over the top at times. So far this season, except for the last one I watched, he has been fine and I have learnt more about him and why he does what he does. I still look forward every week to an episode. Basically my only regret is that they killed off Mike Franks. Bad writers...naughty...lol..Personally I don't feel we need any new comers long term. I prefer they stick whith who they have and keep up with the good choices of guest stars.
