82. RE: Why No Awards
Jan 17 2011, 11:05 AM EST
Seriously. You know, I don't think Hollywood has enough award shows. They need a few more to REALLY break their arms patting themselves on the back. My God, has self-congradulating can an industry be. Anyhow, first the disorganized Ppl Choice Awards dissed NCIS, insulted House & Hugh Lauire with their little "oh yeah & House won too". Wow. Really. Now Golden Globes, I know Hugh Laurie was nominated (as he often is). I do NOT recall seeing NCIS or Criminal Minds or The Mentalist-all my favorite shows (which I find smart, interesting, funny & actually learn stuff-House included) I don't go out of my way to watch anything else on TV except WWE Raw-but hat's just me & my guilty pleasure ;=). Now the SAG awards are coming, etc, etc, etc.... I know these shows can be predictable & the writing is not always top notch, but it is consistently good. Michael Weatherly is a fantasitc actor & funny as Hell-he has made me laugh so hard & at times when I really needed a good laugh (been a tough year). "Pretty boy" Mark Harmon pulls of tough gunney Marine sgt so well - he surprized me (with that Gibb's stare, etc.) & the rest of the cast is just great. Same with Criminal Minds-the bigger names lik Mandy Patinkin & Joe Mantegna, I expected to be excellent, but the ones I never heard of (except for Thomas Gibson-who is such a great actor that even tho he looks the same in Chicago Hope, Dharma & Greg & CriMi-it took me a while to put together who he was & CH was running in the mornings then!) are awesome, esp. Matthew Gray Gubler who was a MODEL that wanted to be a director, he didn't even plan to be an actor. Simon Baker is great in The Mentalist. Everyone pretty much agrees on House & Hugh Laurie & cast (tho I think it used to be better & funnier-just MO) I'm done for now. od Do you find this valuable? |
