Michael Weatherly - Anthony DiNozzo : A Positive Thread !

It's well known that Tony DiNozzo is my favourite character and Michael Weatherly is my favourite actor and I think we need to start a positive thread about them. So, this is the right place where we can show our love and admiration for both of them. Why do you love Michael Weatherly? And why do you love his Very Special Agent Anthony DiNozzo 'the American Dream'? We can talk about his interviews, contract, new projects, videos, but we've to respect his privacy (family, health, private life). Please remember that this is a positive thread so be kind about the man, the actor and his character and respect all other members' opinions. If you do not like Michael Weatherly and/or Tony stay out of this thread, because rudeness , bashing , teasing and bad criticism will not be accepted. This is just a POSITIVE thread! P.S.: please, take Tiva out of this thread. Thanks :) A special thanks to Sorgina, for her precious help :) 13 out of 14 found this valuable. Do you? |

"It's well known that Tony DiNozzo is my favourite character and Michael Weatherly is my favourite actor , and I think we need to start a positive thread about them .I liked Michael Weatherly in "Dark Angel" before I ever saw him on NCIS, and yet when I first caught NCIS marathons on USA Network, I really didn't make the connection that it was the same actor. He's a good actor--he's great being "Tony", he was great being "Logan", he has been good in pretty much everything I've seen in act in. And he's growing as an actor with every season. Like Mark Harmon, he conveys a lot through his eyes and his facial expressions. He seems like a normal, regular, pretty humble guy; he loves acting and looks at the entire business as though he's very lucky to just be here and working. Also, I see/hear/read a lot of accounts from people who have met him and it seems he is gracious with his fans and quick to be willing to stop for an autograph or photos. I've never met the man personally and I guess you can't know someone you've never met, but there's a lot to be said for how people behave in public and act with their fans. 8 out of 8 found this valuable. I love Tony - he's my favourite as well.To me, Tony is the male equivalent of the hooker with a heart of gold. He's got a dark side but it's like a scab that covering a wound - there for a protective reason. I love that he expresses affection and love through teasing. I love that he is blatantly himself - nosey, pushy, sometimes-abrasive but always loyal to the people he considers family - and he doesn't give a flying fig what anyone (other than Gibbs) thinks. I am always reminded that Tony is the guy who, "if his chest had been a mortar, he burst his hot heart's shell upon it." when it comes to that while he truly treasures, be it people or principle. He may be outwardly the frat-boy, but in those few moments when we've seen our well-disguised control freak lose it, we see a very angry, bitter, steel-in-velvet *cop* who really does believe in good versus evil and standing up to be counted. Sort of a Philip Marlowe in Armani (and if you don't get that reference, shame on you. stop reading right now and go to youtube and watch the trailer for THE BIG SLEEP, "Marlowe meets Carmen", and "Bogey gets wet"! Philistine......LOL). I also love MW - he's one of my favourite actors. One of the best, IMHO. I love what he can do with his eyes to work a scene, his versatility in delivering lines. I love watching him rotate on a dime in scenes to totally spin it off into another angle. I love his range - Logan to Tony to Charlie Valentine. He's truly talented. I get goosebumps when he and Mark show people what truly good acting is. They benchmark it. He's genuinely fun to watch in interviews and not to comment on his personal life - I'm really happy he's happy. There's a big difference between his interviews now and then. It's so nice to see someone I invite into my home every week go from reasonably content to really happy. 5 out of 6 found this valuable. Do you? |

I like Tony because he is steadfast. He is passionate about his job, loyal to Gibbs, quick to step up and help or defend his teammates and friends, and despite his joking demeanor, serious about his work and the job he does. He may tease his teammates, but he does so as a brother and a teacher, and is the first to stand up for them when the need arises. He is loyal to Gibbs, but not afraid to take him to task if he feels he is going too far out there and needs to be a voice of reason He is intelligent and has a lot of street smarts. He "hides behind the face of a clown" but is quick to be serious when he needs to be. He has been abducted, beaten, drugged, seen his partner shot to death in front of him, and has been infected with the plague, but he always gets back up and goes back to work, usually with a joke and a smile, even if he doesn't really feel like it. He is protective of his "family." I think he is one of the most multi-faceted characters on the show. There's so much to the character and MW does such a great job of portraying that. To sum it up, if Tony were a real person whom I new, he would be the "big brother" I would ask to lean on guys bugging me, the guy I would call if I got stranded somewhere. He would be the first person I'd call if I were in trouble. He would be #1 on my speed dial.

My husband had to tell me that Michael Weatherly starred on Dark Angel, and I still didn't believe him, DUH. Felt real dumb when I found out he was right.

DiNozzo's best attribute is his impeccable fashion sense, Zegna, Armani, and D&G heightens his abilities as an NCIS Agent IMO

Without those clothes he'd be just an average NCIS agent, much like Samson shorn of his hair, Superman with kryptonite, Batman without an utility belt.... 1 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you? |

So it is with Tony--often dresses down to button-downs and jeans and t-shirts and, like Batman, is still awesome. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

"Nice! A woman who digs Stoli martini's and Tom Ford."*Met* Tom Ford at the premiere of "A Single Man" last year. It. was. awesome! Seriously, though - I would kill to see MW/Tony in Tom Ford. Ford did a black and white sharkskin herringbone topcoat and a black cocktail jacket in grosgrain last season that just makes me go thud. If they put Tony in those? ::charging to 300........clear!:: 1 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

Tony is your weird cousin, best friend, and big brother all rolled into one. Yes, he has his quirks, but he'll stay loyal and protect his family at all costs. He has a great sense of compassion along with a quick wit and intelligence that he normally hides behind a total goofball.MW seems to me, through his interviews, to be a kind funny person who I would very much like to meet. 4 out of 5 found this valuable. Personally I have never taken all that much notice of who wears what "name clothes", just as long as they look nice and it fits the part. I like colours better rathe than brand names. Tony has always looked smart though.

"I would *love* to see Tony in an impeccable Tom Ford suit.Yes , he's not Italian , but he's been Gucci's designer for a very long time , so ... *smile* MW and his Tony , are perfect with everything , and do not forget that all designers has a casual clothing line (right words ?) , for example Emporio Armani ! You're right HK , Italian designers' clothes are part of Tony's charm and helps him to feel comfortable and in consequence more confident , but luckily his clothes are not the most important part of his character and skills :) I think that DiNozzo is the most complex character of the show and (with Gibbs) is the only irreplaceable because , besides being a very competent , intelligent , 'mind reader' , loyal to death and always ready to help- protect-risk his life for all his colleagues/ friends , he brings NCIS the funny moments and humor that makes the Show different from all other crime shows . Recently , watching other Tv Drama Shows (CSI ...) , I've noticed that lots of them are trying to put some of this humor in their shows too , but they're not so believable , because they do not have MW . They do not have this very talented and very versatile actor that can play just with his eyes , and that can be very serious or even moving on a scene , and totally funny and 'crazy' on another scene ... if I think that DB didn't even want to meet him , the first time MW called him !!! 3 out of 4 found this valuable. I can't really add anything to what has been said already. I agree with you all!. Tony/MW are the reason I found NCIS. I was flicking channels and SWAK was on and when I saw his humour (in diversity) and his eyes, boy he tells alot with those eyes, I was hooked. I hope he signs his contract and I hope that TPTB give this wonderful actor better things to do because during the last couple of series MW's talents were wasted on some of the silly things they gave him to do.
