Maybe it's a little weird , considering what I've said on my #18 , but recently I prefer serious Tony/MW to goofy Tony . "Flesh & Blood" , "Obsession" , "Patriot Down" and "Rule 51" have hit my heart !

Maybe it's due to all those bad , silly and out-of-character lines that the authors have given MW . He's a genius of acting , but he's not God , so he couldn't have done otherwise than say those horrible lines and act those horrible scene (yoga with cowboy hat , Groucho Marx glasses and gas mask , tell everything !) . Probably this is the reason why , MW has asked a more serious Tony . He has enough of it .

Wow, can't believe I havn't seen this thread before now, especially being such a huge MW fan! Have you guys seen any of the pictures from Monte Carlo yet? A bunch of very lucky fans got to meet/see Michael there, and have tweeted pictures and info. Saw a picture of Michael in this sexy white suit. He looks tanned and gorgeous, although very tired. I was impressed, but not surprised, to hear that every single fan who met him mentioned how nice and friendly he was with everyone, stopping to have his pictures taken with many lucky fans. One picture (very fuzzy, hard to see), had Michael, Bojana, Cote and her boyfriend Diego coming out of their hotel, and getting into a car to go to a party together. One fan tweeted that Bojana was gorgeous, and friendly with fans as well. Just thought I'd share that. If I read/see anything else I will share with you. It makes me smile that someone I like so much is so down to earth and friendly with the fans who adore him. Many celebs are not so gracious. Do you find this valuable?

"I can't really add anything to what has been said already. I agree with you all!. Tony/MW are the reason I found NCIS. I was flicking channels and SWAK was on and when I saw his humour (in diversity) and his eyes, boy he tells alot with those eyes, I was hooked. I hope he signs his contract and I hope that TPTB give this wonderful actor better things to do because during the last couple of series MW's talents were wasted on some of the silly things they gave him to do. "
"Amen" to that. Here's hoping TPTB give MW better material and do not continue portraying him as the "village idiot". It is unfair to him and to us. Maybe I'm overreacting, but personally, when I see stuff like I saw in "Borderland", I feel insulted and cheated. It *is* a waste of talent.

It's not weird at all. You want a Tony who is witty and has a sense of humor but is still competent. That is what they were giving us until season 6, when they suddenly decided to seriously screw up the way they wrote the character. If MW is tiring of it, I can certainly understand that.

Exactly ! Now I'm very curious to see how they'll handle 'Tony in Mexico' . I hope they give us competent and smart Tony , and not just Franks' sidekick , because it would be totally unbelievable .
SB said that "R51" was just a promise of grief , violence and pain (or something like that) , so prabably we'll have some very intense episodes and M will have a big part in them ... I hope !

"Personally I have never taken all that much notice of who wears what "name clothes", just as long as they look nice and it fits the part. I like colours better rathe than brand names. Tony has always looked smart though. "
I hear what your saying Bells, but you look at the fashions at a high end department store or boutique compared to lets say Wal-Mart, and the comparison is like night and day. Nothing wrong with Wal-Mart mind you, hey Gibbs shops at the Sears Men dept. I don't dig Gibbs signature polo shirt with sport jacket look either.

So right. I like witty and still competent. I like him saying stuff to get a smile out of Gibbs. I don't mind realistic stuff that could happen...I'm thinking of Chained. MW had me cracking up, but it wasn't scenes that just made me cringe. SWAK had it's humorous moments too. The gas mask and him undercover with the prostitute... those scenes were cringe worthy. I didn't think they were funny just painful to watch. MW did what he could with it and played the part they gave him to play, but I can understand him wanting a more serious character. Not Gibbs serious, because I would miss his jokes! LOL, but just not stuff that is too far out there.

I love the fact that Tony has layers (He's the Shrek of NCIS even if he acts more like Donkey (Did that make Jenny Princess Fiona??)) and that he's very complex.

That being said, I really hope we'll get an explanation for Tony's extreme behaviour re: the gas mask etc, cos to me it seemed OTT and OOC....I'm hoping for a scene with Tony's therapist or perhaps even a member acknowledging that there's something going on with him.

And was anyone else really happy to read that interview with MW talking about Tony's moments of deep contemplation?

The truly frustrating thing is that after Flesh and Blood, MW said the writers told him they were going to make Tony less immature, then proceeded to give us the silly, incompetent Tony of Guilty Pleasure and Borderland, etc. They write his character so inconsistently. One ep he's serious and a competent investigator, the next he's regressed. I liked him in Rule 51, so hopefully that will carry over into S8.

So true !!! So true !!!

I was thinking about Tony's sense of guilt when a bad things happen to on of his female colleagueas (Kate , Paula , Jenny , Ziva) . I've my theories about that , but I'd like to know all your opinions :)

Couldn't save his mother, has spent his life trying to make up for it.

Most of that stuff really wasn't Tony's fault, he just makes them his fault in his mind

I agree that his mother probably had a role in that mentality

Unless he murdered his mother and we don't know about it, none of it was Tony's fault. Kate tossed herself in front of a bullet to save Gibbs, Paula hurled herself into a concrete room with a suicide bomber, and Jenny "suicided by Russian bad guys" in order to tie up her loose ends from when she screwed up in Russia--protecting Gibbs and going out in a blaze of gunfire glory in the process. But I agree that he (and Gibbs, too) tend to feel responsible for every bad thing that happens to everyone around them.
