Next Season #8

My question is how many more seasons do you think NCIS has? Nothing lasts forever, I'm just curious what you guys think? Since they all had to renegoiate contracts, I think 3. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

I definitely think the series still has legs, and will definitely outlive JAG. To me, though, it comes down to the cast really. There are a couple there that aren't exactly replaceable (I would say Harmon and Weatherly, with the possibility of Perrette, some may say others) that if they were to leave it would definitely unbalance the show. But then again, the three I have mentioned, plus McCallum* have been there since day dot, Murray, since a little after, so who knows, in the next couple of years one or more might contemplate a change.

As for the contract negotiations, It might just be that time. Given that I read somewhere that Cote and Carroll will be in Season 8, their negotiations might be at a different time (a year out or something like that) but it was just the 'original 5' who were up now.

But yeah, if they stick around, I see it hitting 10, maybe even 15 seasons, given that it seems to only be picking up steam

*I dont exactly see Ducky as a 'break' character if McCallum leaves. While he will be missed, Ducky seems like the kind of character that could eventually retire before the series has run its course. just my opinion

I would love them to go on for ever but of course thats not possible. I'm hoping they will go another 8 - 10 seasons after season 8 anyway. Do you find this valuable?

I too would love to see them carry on for another 10 years or so but Mark Harmon has said that he and his wife are looking forward to their second son graduating from high school so that they can travel and do all the things that they have been talking about donig for the past 10 years, so I can't see him hanging around for too much longer. Gosh I hope I am wrong because I really don't think that the show could go on without Gibbs...

Mark and Pam have gone on a European over seas trip as I write I believe..they are going on a drive around the Alps from what I remember Mark saying. He's contracted till the end of season 8 and what I know he has said recentley he loves NCIS and looks forward to coming to work everyday. Perhaps due to the nature of the last 3 episodes he may miss the 1st or 2nd ep. of season 8...I really don't know, but that would give them a week or two extra to have a holiday I suppose.

I believe you are right there, I hope that they have a wonderful, peaceful and restful time and MH comes back with batteries recharged and ready for another 5 seasons!
Seriously, I too have read and seen interveiws where he has said how much he enjoys working on NCIS, he has also said that because Pam has been in a successful series herself, she realises how special it all is and that she is extra supportive of Mark's role in NCIS as both actor and producer.
I wonder how much extra pressure it puts on MH knowing how pivotal he is to the show? Comments saying that the show would fold without him must give him pause. He has often said that it is important to continue making a quality product to ensure the job security for over 200 people, thats a heavy weight for anyones shoulders, I would imagine.
It would be interesting to see the dynamics of the show and the team if Gibbs was to go AWOL for a few episodes, though it would be a false result as we would all know that he was coming back to take over the reigns once again. And it wouldn't be fair to Tony to give him the lead and then take it back, again!
