Basic recap:

- Monroe ER drop off, ambulance unloading, car out of control crashes and they find a dead navy guy
- credits
- The Brenda Bitner moment - Tony had a one-night stand with a barista who now thinks they're in a committed relationship.
- Tim and Ziva tease by Ziva; see promo clip from Regis and Kelly
- Gibbs comes in - grab your gear, dead navy lieutenant at Monroe
- on scene, McGee informs Gibbs who vic is
- Ziva continues to tease Tony; Tony tells her what he's looking for - an independent, intelligent woman who is adventurous, and professional.
- Ziva says (and I'm sorry, not funny just *nasty*) "What would someone like that want with you?"
- Tony does the snarky sideways laugh thing and walks away
- They discover vic's sister is Dana Hutton

And I will stop since Mellotto is doing such a good job.......

"Okay , everyone is going to throw something at me but I hated this episode. I was actually comfortable reading the paper instead of following this one. It was slow, choppy , and frankly ....tired. I didn't go along with Tony's obsession- you can't do that in an hour. At least with Ziva's guy who ended up dying- there was a dramatic start-she spent time by his bedside with little relief-they remembered each other, etc. This didn't do it for me. Tony jumps from a one nighter that turns into a fatal attraction, he then goes into the same mode with this ZNN chick? Meanwhile Gibbs doesn't blow when he learns Tony gets physical with the other guy? really?"
I didnt like it either casecraker...........they can throw things at both of us - lol...

"The episode is over, and it was very confusing to me. The previews were right this time. Tony apparently fell hard for this correspondent he had never met in person. He did really weird things like sit in her seat on the tv production set, he punched her former boyfriend. He was in such a state he had little interaction with the other agents. In one hour this episode dealt with Tony's clingy one night stand, the death of a lieutenant, the disappearance of his sister, Tony's obsession with her, the library she used to frequent, an agent from Mexico with Ms. Hart as his escort, his request to Abby to speak in Mexico, an old KGB mole from the 1960's, KGB weapons, hidden KGB microfish, current KGB agent still in this country, and the death of the tv correspondent. I'm sure I've left something out. That is a long sentence, I know, but there was really a lot of things going on in this episode. I'm not sure if I followed all of it as well as I should have."
Its not just you Prophetess. This is definitely one you would have to re- watch in order to absorb it all. At this point, I'm not a big fan of this episode. Though I suspect there are lots of breadcrumbs for the finale it it.

I would rate it this way - B-. The main plot was tacked on to bring the two divergent plots together and it showed.

That being said, the only thing I really liked was MW. Sorry, as improbable as it was, I loved the look in his eyes when Dana Hutton revealed to the team her deadline. He did a really good job with what they gave him.

And the interaction at the end between Gibbs and DiNozzo? Really good. Tony and Gibbs are open with each other. Don't know if Gibbs would have been as open with anyone else or vice versa.

I agree with you. And I find it unbelievable that someone like Tony would not be dating for what - 2 years?

I just finished watching this episode and I do not know how I feel about it. Hmm. First time that's happened. I either like the episodes or dislike them.

I can say that it was not exactly what I had hoped for - the "Tony wanting to finally be able to save the girl" theory we had all tossed around. Instead, Tony seemed to fall in love with the girl within minutes.

This episode sort of reminded me of the episode where Ziva fell in love with the guy who was dying of radiation poisoning. I thought that episode was very sweet and touching at the end and this episode was the same (another great, yet way too short scene with Gibbs and Tony). Still, I found it hard to watch Tony become obsessed with someone simply by investigating her and her world.

Other than the obsession part, I found this episode intriguing. The ending was something I did not see coming - again. The writers have definitely upped their case writing, thank goodness.

Also, they did a good job of setting up the next episode - if not the rest of the season. I loved how Abby faced off against M. Allison Hart. Is she stupid trying to force Abby to do something she has no time to do? Wrong call, Hart! And now it is McGee's turn to be a little green-eyed, lol.

I also loved the Tony/Abby/Palmer scene where Tony hugged Abby to calm her down. I know that everyone cares about everyone else on this show but when I see Tony and Abby I automatically think of big brother and little sister. It's really sweet how they interact with each other. Add Gibbs to the mix and they have the family thing going (think of the end of Agent Afloat when Tony and Abby have their arms around each other and Gibbs is looking at them).

I don't think it was falling in love, per se.

Mulling this over in my medicated head:

She met every one of the criteria Tony gave to Ziva, plus (hard thing to explain this impression I got) I think her home and what her things said about her represented what Tony secretly and desperately wants. The fireplace, the cozy elegance, the piano. The close ties to her brother and her bookstore agent.

I think she represented what Tony craves and is becoming desperate for.

Continuing on - I also enjoyed the little hand slapping gesture between Palmer and Tony when Palmer was suggesting they double date. I hope the writers keep working with this friendship.

Also glad to see Palmer actually finding something on his own - growing into his role as Ducky's apprentice much as McGee has grown into his job as junior field agent.

The bond between Tony and Gibbs is very evident in this episode even if they did not spend much time together. When Ziva tells Gibbs that she got a call from ZNN saying that Tony got physical with the director, Gibbs seems worried but he does not act as if he is going to get onto Tony for it (whether he supposedly did offscreen is the viewer's guess). When they are discussing the case with Vance, Tony defends Dana when McGee and Ziva speculate that she could be a spy. Vance seems kinda stunned that Tony is taking up for someone he does not even know (I second that feeling) but Gibbs steers the conversation away - saying they need to focus on the money, death of lieutenant, etc.

At the end, after Dana has died, Tony ends up back at Gibbs' house in the basement. Again, without many words being exchanged, Gibbs knows how to help Tony and does. These two can speak volumes to each other without saying words and it shows how much they care about each other. As much as I enjoy Tony or Gibbs with the others, the scenes between these two actors are the best and most powerful in my opinion. Their relationship is the reason that I started watching this show - I learned to love the other characters later.

When Ziva asked Gibbs if he had talked to Tony, Gibbs said he had talked to Tony late last night. Then Tony shows up at Gibbs' house - again - and Gibbs - again - does not seem surprised. If I hadn't watched Jurisdiction where Gibbs was telling Tony about planting roses at his house - I would swear Tony lived there, lol.

Now that you point that out, I can see what you are talking about. It makes this episode more clear to me and now, when I watch it again - I might understand it better. Thanks.

I have to say that I enjoyed this episode even if I did not understand Tony's motivation (and will probably like it more on second viewing). The little tidbits they threw in leading to the season finale was good and this episode had the second best ending this season (Flesh and Blood being the best).

I had to say, I enjoyed Gibbs getting pissy with Hart. About time he told her what he really thought without overstating it. And I'm sure the references to the paid military services thing will lead to Bell's re-emergence somewhere along the line.

I don't think we have to duck yet!!!! Next week's show looks very interesting, however. i think Abby is going to be the one that unveils Gibbs as a murderer to his wife's murderer. wow. I wonder how that female lawyer is involved. Don't trust her.

To me, it wasn't that this was such a bad episode, but i was just kind of sad and depressing. No humor moments, and all in all it was a little strange. They should've gave a reason to why Tony was so obssessed with her. Is he obssessed with every girl who's successful? no. It just didn't add up too much. Poor Tony though, he sounded so sad at the end when he said "I broke rule number 10...again". All tiva aside (dont attack! :) ) i did think the tony ziva moments were cute. Whenever something happens and Tony is going through something, it seems like Ziva always knows what's happening, she sees right through any facade he puts on every time. Just a thought. With all the wierd Tony scenes aside, i did like the case, with the Soviet Union and KGB parts. I didn't see it all coming, although the killer seemed kind of suspicious to me towards the end. Excited for next week, it looks like its going to be exciting! Do you find this valuable?

I know (about the allison hart thing. i still think she is trying to nail Gibbs and he is not going to be surprised. I think this is one instance-keep your enemies closer. I wonder if she is behind the unearthing of his murdering his wife's murderer.
I didn't like her showing up for this episode. There are too many sub plots for me to be able to comprehend Tony's conflict in this particular episode. I think I'm becoming the minority that like Tony and Ziva. I loved when they rescued her and she told Tony he has always had her back. Tony , I believe, is one of the main characters that transformed Ziva in to a kinder more humanistic , person - than the first season's Ziva The Assassin.

Really! That's the $64,000 question. Gibbs seemed annoyed that she was going to be in the office as a part time employee or such. Then when she goes to his basement she asked him why his front door wasn't locked. He said he wouldn't have a social life if he kept it locked all the time. Is she wearing a black hat or white hat? Friend or foe? This is what we are sure to find out in the last episodes. The best parts of this episode to me were the McGee and Abby scenes. The rest of the episode I really didn't think seemed realistic.

You may not be joining a minority. Have you ever heard of the silent majority? I believe that's what it is especially on this website. For the most part we try to allow people to be pro or con here without any head slapping. However, on the wide, wide internet I'm sure you've seen tons of Tiva websites, articles and videos. Tiva fans know the way things should be, but whether it will ever come to pass is another question. We just love these characters so much we can't bear to think of them ever separating. I think all the characters should move into a big house together and live happily ever after. Vance and Fornell should live there or at least be next door neighbors. They need to keep the front door locked and M.Allison Hart out at least until we find out what her motives are.

Yep, I think they suspended quite a lot of realism in this episode. My biggest pet peeve would be the employee badge given to MAHart. Federal employment -- not without weeks worth of red tape. They aren't handed like candy -- she might qualify as a contractor but nor an employee.

You and me both. Rena Sofer keeps saying that we NCIS fans will like her character but unless she does something drastically nice, I doubt it I will.

Anyone else notice that Ziva's picture from Paris was on Tony's web page as well as the funny picture that Abby took of him for her phone? I did not notice this until I went over to youtube and watched Michael Weatherly's interview on Kelly and Regis. Someone pointed this out to all of us and I looked - sure enough, they were right. This person had a really good eye, lol.

I liked the episode, I really did. But I do love cold war mysteries, KGB, the Soviet Union and all that stuff so.

Palmer is getting more and more awesome and I love both his scenes with Ducky and Tony.

Tonys obsession with Dana was for me another attempt for him to save a girl. I don't think it was love or anything, I just think he really wants, for once, to save a woman and not having her die. Sadly it doesn't seem like that is going to happen anytime soon. And yes, maybe he saw that Dana was the kind of woman that Tony wants to get serious with.

Brenda Bittner, Tonys one night stand was really the obsessive one.

The only problem with this episode for me was the scenes with Allison Hart. Yes, they are setting up the end of season and the arc and all that, but I just want her gone.

Exactly what I thought also, as did Gibbs, that's why he didn't reprimand DiNozzo for getting physical with that sleazy producer.
