How did Ziva forget that Tony had been ill?

When I was watching "Suspicion" (4.12) this week, I noticed that Ziva ends the episode researching the Y. pestis virus (that caused him to have the plague in S.W.A.K., ep. 2.22) to see if Tony could be suffering from any long term effects of the infection. But in this episode, when Ducky goes up to tell the team that the crispy critter couldn't possibly be Tony because the corpse's lungs were unscarred, Ziva says that was before her time, and she didn't know Tony had been ill. 0  out of 1 found this valuable. Ziva wasn't with NCIS yet when Tony got sick. Kate was still around. 0  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

I don't think she wanted everyone to know she had been worried. Only Gibbs knew she had been researching the Y Pestis.

She didn't necessarily forget. She didn't say she didn't know (nor did she seem surprised to hear Ducky say that). She just commented that it happened "before her time", meaning that it happened before she joined NCIS.

Good point. She would not have wanted everyone to know she had been researching the disease.

You sure? I thought all she said was that it was before her time, and let everyone (but Gibbs, of course) assume that she was ignorant of the Y Pestis ... which really doesn't make any sense as they were aware that she compiled dossiers on them prior to "Kill Ari" (right?)

ETA: Whoops. le_bibliothecaire beat me to it.

Easiest solution: temporary plot amnesia. Common affliction in television characters. :-)
