CAN WE SEE GIBBS IN A NOT SO DRAB WARDROBE, MAYBE BLUES
Jan 22 2009, 12:19 PM EST
Gibbs is a very handsome man. But, those DRAB Colors they make him wear wouldn't work for anyone. I realize the Team probably has a Dress Code. Would it hurt to let him wear some Navy Blue, Dark Green, or even a DARK Brown, or Dark Black.? The colors he wears makes him look, washed out. I Love Gibbs/Mark. Don't get me wrong. But, Maybe, just a few brighter colors.I Love all of you NCIS FANS ALSO. YOU ARE THE GREATEST. Edie 1 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

The team doesn't really have a "dress code", everyone dresses (or is dressed by the wardrobe dept.) according to the character's basic personality, however. Thus, I doubt that Gibbs will ever be seen in bright colors. That just wouldn't be Gibbs *smile*.

NCIS is not a fashion catwalk, and as Scorpio-lady rightly says it's the wardrobe dept., which decides in line with what the writers and directors feel would best express the character, maybe in series like Grey's Anatomy of High School Musical it's another kettle of fish, where physique or personal attractiveness is more important than the plot. This series is centred around a plot played out by different characters who are dressed in accordance with the same. I mean let's face it, can you imagine Cote playing her role credibly if they dressed her in Donna Karan outfits? or any other actor for that matter if the wardrobe department concentrated exclusively on how well such and such a colour or style would look in relation to the actor's physical attributes as opposed to his/her credibility to portray a certain character

The photos taken at the Slamdance film festival at the weekend show Mark's dress style is very much Gibbs'. Do you find this valuable? |

Gibbs' does has a fashion statement, he is the boss, therefore I believe his character does not worry about what makes him look smart and cool. He is more worried about his Gibblets and the case they are presently working on. When checking out a video of Mr. Harmon from his younger years till now he has always chosen the earth tones. "What's a Gibbs without his grays".

I really was not " suggesting " that the Team Members be put in " Designer Clothes ". I actually Like the way they dress. I was just trying to join in the conversations. I am sure that Mark Harmon plays a HUGH part in everything that is done on NCIS. He is a very smart man. It's just that on one of the episodes I saw him in a Lilac shirt and with his Silver hair, it looked Great.. I am also sure that Mark and Gibbs does what is Best for NCIS, and the Team. But, thank you for letting me have my say. You are doing a Fantastic job. Do you find this valuable? |

"Like a Ducky without his bow-tie!"I believe there is one episode where he is in his regular suit, but no bow tie. It's not that noticable, it was just being stop-played on my DVD, so I randomly noticed. Do you find this valuable? |

I loved what Gibb's wore in Season 4, much more relaxed. I love it when Gibbs wears jeans and his green/khaki jacket and polo shirt. I agree I think Mark has a lot to say on what Gibbs wears as he tends to wear very similar clothes in private. I love that blue jumper he wore at Slamdance definitely brings out the colour of his eyes. Was he wearing the long brown coat that Gibb's often wears?????? Do you find this valuable? |

I think he makes it look like he really isn't bothered by what he wears, he looks great! But dark colours are just easier to match.

I agree, he needs to wear more blues and even browns. Now that Mark is getting whiter, grey is not the colour to be wearing, he looks really pale - not that I'm a fashion officiando and nor do I think Gibbs should be. Gibbs' wardrobe seems to reflect what Mark likes to wear, seeing the photos at Slamdance he was positively yummy - and the blue certainly set off his eyes.

(This can change over time in a long running sreies.) The actors may also work with the wardrobe dept. in deciding certain traits etc. The style for Gibbs could also mean that MH is happy in his characters skin. We have seen Gibbs in his red hooded sweatshirt both in the workplace and in his off time. Gibbs has worn a variety of colored polo shirts. ( I think someone did try to list them). We also know that dispite the somewhat 'drab' day to day colors, he does scrub up rather well <grin> Remember the ep. when the team got called in over a weekend and Gibbs arrived wearing a suit? Just as an 'aside' anyone else noticed that Gibbs never removes his jacket in the workplace any more as he did in the earlier eps. ?? Do you find this valuable? |

( I think someone did try to list them). There's an easy explanation for the non-removal of the jacket. If the jacket is kept on it makes it easy to keep the continuity in place. It's too easy to make glaring errors when clothing is changed too often. DPB wasn't the most careful person where continuity was concerned, so I think it reflects the change in leadership. The most glaring one I can remember came in SWAK. One minute Gibbs is dressed in the blue overalls, his throat and upper chest clearly visible. Less than 30 seconds later, he was a white undershirt on under the overalls. Do you find this valuable? |
