I'm a spoiler junkie, so it looks like this episode has not been discussed yet over here. Hope someone at CBS NCIS lets us in on the casting of Ralph Waite to play Jackson Gibbs, from the two trailers I've seen it is an excellent choice. I also hope that if this is the episode that Sean Harmon filmed some clips for as a young Jethro they don't cut them out. Feeling guilty that the plot for this one has passed me by with the waiting to see Ralph and Sean. Guessing that non Gibbs lovers will not like this episode much and are not looking forward to it as much as I am. I've been wanting it since Chas Johnson mentioned they had been filming with Ralph at Fan Fest.

It was neat to learn about Gibbs' rules and how they started and meet a young "Shannon." She is the one who started the rules and calling him Gibbs. How cute! 1 out of 1 found this valuable. "This is a thread to discuss this episode! :)"Boy we learned alot about Gibbs tonight. His wife was from the same town as he was. He got the rules thing from Shannon. He held alot of bad feelings for his dad because of the split they had. But learned the truth when he returned. Gibbs showed he had feelings when he said good bye to his dad which made his dad feel great. All was forgiven. Gibbs is not always the tuff person he appears to be. Ziva is alot more into everything this season. She now seems more apart of the team then ever. Her and McGhee were like two little kids when they tried to get the info on Gibbs back to Abby and Tony. I really loved this episode. Do you find this valuable? |

I loved it! My husband and I laffed so when they did that! Gibbs sure seemed uncomfortable coz I think he knew what Ziva and McGee were up to.I was hoping so hard that Gibbs was gonna hug his dad and when he did I started to tear up! I'm an old softy! Do you find this valuable? |

this episode was so cute! i dont think they could have pick a better actor then Ralph Waite to player Gibb's dad. they even talked alike. cracked up laughing when Gibbs told Tony to stay behind, he looked so disappointed and upset. lol. ziva is definatly acting more like the others. She just couldnt wait to figure out the many mysteries of Gibb's past. I just wished they would have brought Ducky in and we could have seen him and Ralph Waite talking. But by far one of my favorites in a while atleast since the strike.

Pardon my sniffles.....(blows nose) ....I get so wrapped up in NCIS & Gibbs' past that this one had me bawiling! Writers deserve kudos was thrilled when I saw the clip showing Gibbs father & was engrossed from the start in Gibbs reactions thru the whole hour, I thought I saw Mark get teary-eyed at the end before he hugged his Dad . Both men, Ralph & Mark were excellent. Lots of funnies from every one of the team, too. Loved it!

I absolutely LOVED this episode! It is, in my opinion, the best episode of the season. It was great to learn more about Gibbs background. The humor, the depth of feeling, .... Oh, man, I want to talk about this, but I also want to respect the fact that others haven't yet seen this, so I'm going to stop for now.For those of you who are watching it now, or have yet to watch it, you are in for a real treat!!! It was so good that I was surprised it was over! I couldn't believe an hour had gone by! I do believe this one will be my favorite of all. When Gibbs got into the car his dad had saved for him and he started grinning...! Oh wow! I was all giggles and tears!

I loved the part where Tony and Abby are talking to Ziva and McGee over video and Ziva and McGee are like "Gibbs has a father" and Tony and Abby are like: "Tell me everything." Absolutely priceless. I also loved when McGee and Abby are fighting over "shotgun" and Ziva's already there. Great episode. Can't wait for next week. 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

In my humble opinion, "Heartland" will go down in history as one of the best NCIS episodes ever. Kudos to the writer, Jesse Stern, and the Director, Tony Wharmby. "Heartland" was tender in all the right places, funny in all the right places, and dramatic in all the right places. It gave NCIS fans an in-depth look at Gibbs and his dad, and the casting of Ralph Waite to play Jackson Gibbs was perfect! This episode even provided us with some great surprises. A wonderful hour, that went by way too fast!

OMG where do we start on this episode?!!?!!?! It was terrific.I mean we learn about Gibbs, Gibbs' dad, Shannon!!! Gibbs, he was a naughty,naughty boy when he was young, and learned his rules from shannon, and that car!! OMG that was hilarous. and i dont know, i just finished watching it, and i'm so sparatic right now!!!!! Sorry for ranting aimlessly and taking up board space I loved at the end Tony was asking his questions, and then left saying "thanks for the sweater" i thought that sweater looked sooo cute on him, and i was wondering why he was wearing it too and then he said that hehehe OH AND the train thing at the end, that had to be the cutest thing ever, i just wished there was a way that we could have seen Mark Harmon act as young Gibbs, that would have been so much more satisfying, but i guess the idea of gibbs will have to do... ok, i'm done for now, i'll post again later when i'm not spazzing out, and wanting to rant since no one else i know watches this show... 1 out of 1 found this valuable.
