Who should play the next director?
Jun 21 2008, 10:46 AM EDT
First off, I apologize if someone has already started a discussion on this subject. I'm a newcomer here and haven't had the time to go through everything, yet. Now, I'm assuming that this thing with Vance is going to get cleared up relatively quickly in season 6.(Fingers crossed) And when it does get cleared away, they'll need another actor for the role of director. I would be over the moon if they had David James Elliott come on as Director of NCIS. Harmon Rabb and the NCIS team have a history and I just think that that would be perfect. What are your thoughts? As a side note to this - Mark Harmon was meant to be the lead in a Donald Bellisario show. Mark's middle name is Thomas. That was Magnum's first name in "Magnum P.I". And Mark's last name is Harmon and that was Rabb's first name in "JAG". Useless information but really neat and interesting, nonetheless.:) 2 out of 4 found this valuable. Do you?

"'Fraid to disappoint you, but Rocky Carroll who plays Vance has been confirmed as a regular cast member for Season 6"Well, I seriously can't see him playing the director for the entire season. As long as he is, the team will be split up. And that would suck big time!! 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

And it can`t be David James Elliot, even if he have had the time to work on this show, it wouldn`t have worked with the last episode of J.A.G.For Harm an Mac are happily married either in London or in San Diego. A reappearance of Harm would destroy the open end of J.A.G. They could get Bud Roberts as a director, but I don`t think they will reactivate any J.A.G.-connections. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. They could write in anything with regards to Harm and Mac. She could have been sent off to one of the war zones for some reason and killed by a roadside bomb attack. Or, for the sake of peace and harmony;), DJE could come on the show as another character. I just absolutely love him and think that he would add alot to the already amazing cast.Another possibility is Tom Selleck. Obviously, he couldn't come on as Magnum, since Tony has made mention of "Magnum P.I" many times. But I can imagine the team seeing him for the first time and Tony being in awe because "he looks just like Magnum." Another actor I love is Ted King. He was on an episode of "JAG" and was also in "General Hospital" for a number of years. He's very intense and sexy and a great actor. http://www.tedking.com/index.html Do you find this valuable? |

Sorry about "the link" in the above post. I thought it would work. Another thing I forgot to mention was that I just really hope that they don't do to NCIS what they did to "House". I know that one of the producers said that no one from the team is leaving but if they have Gibbs with an entirely different team and only show Tony, Ziva and McGee once in awhile, it is going to blow. That's what they did with House and the show hasn't really been good since. I used to love to watch "House". I couldn't wait for the next show and now I don't care if I see it all. If they do this to NCIS, I'm afraid that it could go down in the ratings as House has. And it would definitely ruin it for me.

According to an interview with Shane Brennan, the reason for the team separation would be settled in episode 1 of Season 6, and that the team would be back together again, so it looks like we will have just have to wait and see

I just absolutely love him and think that he would add alot to the already amazing cast. That would totally spoil J.A.G. for me and I don`t think DJE would fit in the team. It would be to "crowded" with great actors. Tom Selleck wouldn`t be a great choice, either. He is a great actor, I really loved him in "Boston Legal", but I would like to have someone like Jenny, who could "assimilate" into the show. I don`t like the idea to get someone famous or popular just to make a show more "exciting"! I love JDE and I would love it to see him in the show, but only if it works with J.A.G. and it would be really unfair to kill CB just to fit DJE in. That would be like having Tony and Ziva together and then next day kill Ziva. Do you find this valuable? |

"First off, I apologize if someone has already started a discussion on this subject. I'm a newcomer here and haven't had the time to go through everything, yet.Actually, Thomas is Mark's correct first name. He chose to be known as Mark to avoid confusion with his father, who was also named Thomas. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

Wow! This is a really "old" thread...so much has happened on NCIS since it was first started six months ago! As for me, I'm totally delighted that Rocky Carrol was cast to play Director Vance. He has already brought excellence to this role, with the promise of lots yet to come, as we progress through Season Six and into Season Seven next fall.

"'Fraid to disappoint you, but Rocky Carroll who plays Vance has been confirmed as a regular cast member for Season 6"Vance as the next "Director" leaves something to desire. There's something in his past that needs to be introduced (remember he immediately open Jenny's locked file drawer, extracted a page from his file and shredded it.) Also, he needs to stop leaving used toothpicks around and trying to get McGhee to pick up the habit. Vance's persona does fit an agent's profile, but he DOES NOT inspire any loyalty or respect whatsoever in the Gibbs' team! THAT doesn't make for a cohesive existence! Do you find this valuable? |

He gives the cast something to play off of. I have a feeling that once his op is over, he'll be a little less secretive and will fit in better. But I don't want him to ever be Gibbs' best buddy or anything. I like the tension. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

I do agree that it's NOT necessary for Gibbs & Vance to be best buds, however, this type of tension is so counterproductive in the grand scheme of things. I.e., when Vance spearheaded "Jenny's" investigation, Gibbs told Tony to investigate Vance's operation. Although tension can be an enhancement, an excess can grow old, as there would be a constant flow of it if Vance remained in power! Do you find this valuable? |

When he took over from Jenny, something was up. There was a spy at NCIS. Additionally, he apparently asked for this position to do some something in connection with the "unorthodox position of Mossad Liaison." His whole behavior this season has been based on this premise. That's why I'm hoping that the tension won't still be there when his covert op is over. Do you find this valuable? |

As a recent fan of NCIS I didn't realize that there was a spy on the premises . . . that lends some clarity to the plot, then! Thnx for the insight. Do you find this valuable? |
