"As for Gibbs' comments, they're in keeping with the character, they're not a statement about the show/staff/cast/real ncis view of the war. If you paid attention to Gibbs' character in his flashbacks of remembering some of the things he did as a marine, there are things he's proud of and things he's not so proud of having done. The character's position is in keeping with everything he's been through and sees on the job. It shouldn't be taken out of context as to being a broad based view of the show, writers, director, actors, the real NCIS, etc.
"
I totally agree with DR.
What Gibbs said was completely in character for him. With all the crap he's been through, he doesn't see much good in conflict.

I totally agree. We have to support the troops and the war. They are making progress in the war but the media wont tell the worl because that means that Bush ACTUALLY knows what he is doing. I heard directally from my brother who was over in the war until November 13, 2004 when he jumped on a bomb that he could not disable to save 5 other Marines. He said that they were doing good over there and that they want them there. So DON'T DO THAT PLEASE!!!!!!!!! I love NCIS and will give it a second chance but that is totally wrong to say that!!!!!!!! 3  out of 5 found this valuable. Do you?

Isaac Asimov said that " violence is the last refuge of the incompetent" and I agree with him.Even the war is just, the price both sides paid is too high.Gibbs knows that-he saw it himself. He lost many friends. He understand that sometimes a war is necessary, but that doesn't make it just for the people, who lost friends/family members there.

Iraq is a fine example how the war DOESN'T help at all-and the point in my reply IS NOT if the war is just or not. I agree with dani_g-if you suport the war, then you suport the ruined houses, lost families, death and violence, which are typical for EVERY war-it doesn't matter if the war is just or not.The pen will always be stronger than the sword. With persuasion we can attain more than with the violence.Just my 2 $.

That is the beauty of this country, we can all have different opinions on the war. I was not at all surprised at the comment Gibbs made, consider his history. The important thing here is to support our troops, whether you support the cause or not. These boys volunteered to protect our country, whatever the cause may be. 4  out of 4 found this valuable. I understand completely how you feel, Byebyebye. I forgave the writers/producers/etc., however, for that remark, because they aren't too "in your face" yet about their political views. They sneak one in now and then, but it's fairly subtle most of the time. Mark Harmon was probably happy to say the line because it probably reflects his political views. I stopped watching Boston Legal because of the constant ultra-liberal/ultra-leftist/David E. Kelly/in-your-face diatribe every week. After several weeks of the non-stop onslaught of obvious leftist liberal crap, I finally said, that's it, I'm done. SVU was a little more sublte, but then after one week's show recently, I said, that's it for them, too. Both good shows, terrific actors, but I refuse to be hit on the head every week with some Hollywoodite's political views. I DON'T CARE. I WANT TO BE ENTERTAINED. Most likely, NCIS won't become the diatribe like Boston Legal because of the military premise, but if they start "Boston Legaling" it, I'll be joining you Byebyebye, and turning it off. 1  out of 4 found this valuable. Alright, enough. This wiki is about the show, as someone pointed out to me a few days ago. The war is a touchy subject, but everyone is entitled to their own opinion on it. We should all thank the people that have served in any war we have been in. Pickle, I am sorry for your losses, your brother and friend are truly heroes. Just one point, going to war is not a volunteer issue, joining the military is. So I suppose you could say that anyone that joins in war time is essentially volunteering for the war. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?
