Pandemic
Chapter 1
Title screen (six years ago)
“How much longer will he be up there?” Tony said as he paced back and forth around the cubicles. Kate looked up at Tony and replied, “He left five minutes ago and stop pacing, you’re going to leave a dent in the floor.”
Tony gave a quick chuckle, mimicked Kate and then turned in the direction of McGee, “Are we in?” McGee continued typing for a moment, and then replied, “Almost.”
Kate took a deep breath and then began speaking, “I probably don’t want to know but what are you two trying to do?”
McGee stopped typing and looked up at Tony, “I did it we're in!”
“In what?” Kate said
McGee smiled, “The director’s webcam.”
“You’re spying on them!” Kate yelled.
Tony bent over to get a better look at the computer screen. Tony said, “Where’s the audio?” McGee replied, “It’s on.”
“Well then where are they?” Tony yelled.
Then a familiar voice from behind said, “Did you miss me?”
Tony turned around “Gibbs!” McGee quickly broke the connection to the webcam before Gibbs could notice.
Gibbs sat in his chair, drank some coffee and then started talking, “By the way you may want to pack your bags. “
“Oh we're going on a trip? Where to Boss?” Tony said
“A top secret deserted island off the coast of Mexico,” Gibbs replied.
Tony exclaimed, “Oh I’ve always wanted to go to a top secret deserted island off the coast of Mexico!”
Kate said, “I swear some days it’s like I work with a two year old.”
Tony said, “I object to that! I turned three yesterday!”
“I don’t care how old you are just, go home and get packed. The plane leaves in one hour. Abby and Ducky are already home getting ready.”
“Yes sir!” all three of them said as if in harmony.
When everyone had left, Gibbs stared off into the distance and finished his coffee. A few minutes later Gibbs stood up and walked over to the elevators. Not much time had passed when the bell dinged and the doors opened. Gibbs walked in and hit the button for the main lobby. He once again stared of into the distance as the elevator doors slowly closed behind him.
