His run on the show was much too short-lived. So much could have been done with this character. You got the sense of a very competent, strong-willed, and opinionated person required to be unfailingly polite while playing by other's rules. He was the perfect agent but you got the feeling that underneath it all he was chafing at the bit. I can see the Secret Service recruiting men just like him; the type needed to get the job done and, at the same time, the type least suited to working by the book. He was kind of a probie Gibbs. I think given time and more "missions" with the West Wing cast, he could have developed into a main character. His humor made Simon Donovan immediately endearing, "I can fire a gun without falling down", "A good smack on the ass they always like", "Alright, I'm switching sides now", and "I'm nothing but fun".
