WELCOME TO MY FAN BLOG

Welcome

I'd just like to say a quick welcome to this fan blog which I have begun. It is based on the excellent work on the Moderator's Blog by MargyW and Sorgi
ña. I have read all of their blog entries and hope that my blogs are in the similar and quality vain that they are. These opinions of mine, of course, are not right, nor are they wrong. It is all up to opinions and feedback and your own beliefs. I'm just throwing these opinions out there, as the point of a blog is.

I may not have been an NCIS fan since its beginnings in 2003, as I only started to watch one Tuesday night when I flicked over in the Season 4 episode "Driven". That episode got me hooked onto NCIS and the wonderful television show that it is. I have now seen every episode of NCIS and rarely is there one that is not up to great standard set by the wonderful actors and the characters they portray. The crew, which does have Australian connections, should also receive a equally great appreciation as well.

I am Australian and write this blog, as something to do, to share my thoughts and to engage other fans. I don't expect this blog to receive as much publicity as the Moderator's blog, but I welcome any comments on them and I will generally respond. A few notes: My order will be top to bottom, I don't quite understand why the Moderator's Blog is the other way round. And the dates are in Australian form ie. DAY/MONTH/YEAR not the American custom. I will generally write a new blog every 2-3 days, though there may be periods of absence and I do apologise. Thanks again and I hope you enjoy this.
This is probably the first dedicated fan blog on this website, but I hope it OK.

WHAT MAY COME IN THE SEASON 7 FINALE

15th January 2010

NOTE: This post may have spoilers if you have not watched the first six seasons and the first eleven episodes of Season 7.
NOTE: This post may be dated if you have watched episodes after 7.11 "Ignition".
NOTE: This post is revisited here dated 2nd March 2010.

After Ziva's capture and escape at the start of the season, I may take a stab at what the end of Season 7 would be like.

Initially, I would have a bet $10, that the season finale had a final showdown between Mossad and NCIS, in more particular, The NCIS team VS. Eli David. Especially considering the way Eli David was talking to Vance at the end of "Good Cop, Bad Cop", I knew that it could not be the end, and it would be disappointing not to end that arc eventually. Let's not hope that it falls down the path of Gibbs' Mysterious Redhead.

Of course, this plot line was probably ended after Shane Brennan hinted that the first clue to the Season finale came in the first eleven episodes. Considering "Ignition" and the way it ended, the Attorney Alison Hart and Colonel Bell storyline, whatever that may be, most likely revenge, will be the story arc for the finale. Of course the article [Source A] doesn't explicitly say but it is most likely. Though Rena Sofer (who portrays Hart) said she will be back for at least one episode, so it may be a story line along the lines of Sharif in Season 4. The ending to Ignition is similar in a way to the ending of Sandblast.

To the other theory comes [Source B] (a blog, so maybe unreliable) but it says that Shane Brennan thinks there is room for Eli David to return. From that it hints that he hasn't been worked in yet, so a Season 7 finale involving him, is unlikely.

Of course, the best way is to just wait and see what happens.

THE OBSESSION OF JENNY SHEPARD

18th January 2010

Jenny Shepards obsession to find and kill La Grenouille because she believed that he had killed her father, becomes a major plot line of the 4th - 5th seasons. When she first becomes Director of NCIS in Season 3, there is no mention or hint that Jenny is using her Director power to find La Grenouille. This I think is because she was getting used to her role as Director and probably had more problems initially. Also with Gibbs always in contact with her, it would have been hard for her to initiate an operation, no matter how hard she was going to get him.

When Gibbs retired/quit for four months, this gave Jenny an opportunity. No longer did she have Gibbs in her face who could question her motives. Gibbs would probably be the only one that Jenny would back down to and we see that on occasion in Season 3. When Jenny wanted to hear theories on a case, Gibbs then mockingly took her office, but when Jenny got the point, she did back down. Later she would observe theories in Gibbs presence rather than take over. In Season 4, we do see Jenny ordering Gibbs' team and doesn't let Gibbs get in her way. This is confidence she may have built over the four months he was away. Tony doesn't know Jenny in the way Gibbs does, so it gives Jenny power over Tony to do the undercover missions. If Jenny had asked Gibbs, Gibbs would have asked why alot more until he got the truth.

Of course, her obsession at the start is less than obvious. She orders Tony to get into the operation and then happily gives the orders that Tony would have his own team, which would jeopardise the mission. She probably didn't believe she could get close to La Grenouille but tried. As Tony got deeper and closer to him, Jenny probably realised she could get him, and her obsession took over. Jenny eventually got her revenge, as she killed him, though was never convicted. How she got Trent Kort to go along with it, or if he knew, I don't know. But only Gibbs and possibly Kort know that Jenny killed him, not Kort.

The obsession was unhealthy of a Director, but she managed to keep it hidden until she got the gig, as I doubt SECNAV would have given her the post if he knew about the hidden agenda.

FRANKS VS. GIBBS. VS. DINOZZO

21st January 2010

There has been obvious notes of how Gibbs became Franks once he stepped out of the Probie shoes, and how when DiNozzo got his chance, he began imitating Gibbs in ways. There are many similarities in the way Franks approached his Probie Gibbs, how Gibbs approaches DiNozzo and how DiNozzo approaches McGee. Generally Gibbs isn't as taunting as Franks or DiNozzo in terms of insults but he is a lot more strict when it comes to getting work done.

For unknown amount of years, Franks was a NIS agent. In 1991, Gibbs left the Marine Corps. and joined NCIS. In 1996, Franks retired, Gibbs was promoted. In 2001, DiNozzo joined NCIS and in 2006, Gibbs tried to retire and DiNozzo took over. A recurring theme in the years there, but Gibbs came back, so Tony has a while to go yet.

In "Hiatus (Part 2)", we see that Franks and Gibbs have more than a working relationship. They at times went fishing together on the Mexican beach Franks later called home. We see at the end of "Flesh and Blood" that Gibbs and Tony have more than a working relationship, as Tony brings a six-pack and Gibbs prepared a cowboy-style steak. It is clear that this is not the first time they have done this.

Tony's ability to get sidetracked by films and other material during work, often leads to head smacks from Gibbs. I can see that Gibbs was no different, perhaps differing topic, such as Woodworking or Snipering (from "Legend (Part 1)"), but got head slaps from Franks in such a way.
