Scottie, born Susan Scott Thompson, grew up in Richmond, Virginia, where she danced with the Richmond Ballet professionally for many years.

In 2005 she graduated from Harvard University with a bachelor's degree in Performance Studies. During her time at Harvard, she also spent a year abroad in Senegal, and was co-author of the travel guide "Let's Go: Vietnam".

From Fall of 2006 - Fall 2007 she was seen as 'Jeanne Benoit' on NCIS.
