Crime drama queen swears by her trusty Volvo

On the surface, Pauley Perrette would not seem to be a typical subject for a profile that focuses on a celebrity’s love of cars. That’s because the bright-eyed actress, who plays Goth-girl forensics wizard Abby Sciuto on CBS-TV’s hit crime drama “NCIS,” doesn’t love cars. Anything but, it turns out.

“I hate cars! I hate driving!” exclaims Perrette, a woman who’s expert at not holding her emotions at bay. “I’m terrified of driving. I’m not convinced that God wanted us to go faster than our feet go.” Her aversion to getting behind the wheel is based on part on her knowledge of physics, which she studied in college along with just about every other science under the sun.

“It’s a lot of people just smashing into each other and speeding and being complete jerks on the road all of the time. And in lay terms, the faster you go, the more pieces you’re going to break into when you hit something. I would just be happy if I never had to get into the car again, ever.”

Perrette is so down on cars, she has embraced one of the hidden secrets of Los Angeles: the public transportation system. Even as “NCIS” has put her on the map, she still uses the bus and subway lines whenever possible. A few years ago she even combined the local subway and an Amtrak train to commute to San Diego, where she was making a film, and recently she went under the Tinseltown streets to go to a major political protest at City Hall.

“We were packed into a subway car and every single subway car was full,” she says. “I’ve never seen it that packed in a subway car, including in New York, and it was so awesome. And the majority of people who were there were, like, I didn’t even know there was a subway!”

Here is an interview with Pauley from Bullz-Eye.com...Its from the 10th of December and printed on the 16th of Dec. so its a little old but its one that hasnt been posted so here it is...

It has been said of Pauley Perrette, who plays Abby Sciuto on CBS’s long-running Tuesday night drama, “NCIS,” that the character of Abby is actually a toned-down version of the real Pauley. Ms. Perrette herself does not believe this to be true, but it’s possible she may be a bit too close to the subject to be able to see the resemblance. All I’m saying is that I have met her on two occasions, and while I offer the caveat that I’m speaking of network-sponsored events where you would expect her to be on her best behavior, both encounters nonetheless left me thoroughly convinced that, at the very least, the smiling, heart-as-big-as-all-outdoors sweetness that you see on the small screen very much translates from character to actress and back again. As such, it was a pleasure for me to speak with Pauley again, this time in conjunction with the airing of “Silent Night,” the very Abby-centric Christmas episode of “NCIS” which will run on Tuesday, Dec. 16, at 8 p.m. (Eastern). Don’t worry, though: we discussed more than just the holidays.

Pauley Perrette: Hi, Will! How are you?

Bullz-Eye: Hi, Pauley! I’m good!

PP: Awesome!

BE: Good to talk to you again.

PP: Good to talk to you, too! How’s your wife?

BE: (Laughs) I was actually just going to tell you that my wife says, “Hello.”

PP: Tell her I said, “Hi!”

BE: I most certainly will. So I’ve gotten into the habit of changing my Facebook status to indicate who I’m going to be interviewing on a given day, and when I indicated that I’d be talking to you, I had male and female friends alike who were jealous of me.

PP: (Laughs) You know, I’m not on Facebook, but I hear about it a lot!

Ms. Perrette, as a 6' tall mother of three boys under six, I want you to know that it is AWESOME that you wear platforms on the show. My 6 year old said, Mum, that girl is taller than all the boys, too! Since he has expressed reservations about having me at school (a 6' mum in heels doesn't just blend), it's great for him to see other tall women (besides, of course, my mum and grandmum, 6' and 6'2", respectively) on a television show. He did ask if you were Canadian, like us, and that was crushing, but otherwise, Sam is in love. Thank you.

Does Pauley still write? Because the blog I found of her on the CBS site was till 2006. Those blogs are nice, are there any more? I hope so. Pauley you are a great actress and a very nice person. If everybody would be more like you then everybody would get alone!! You're the best!
