LEAST FAVORITE EPISODES OF SEASON 4 REVISITED

11th February 2010

Thanks to the great response I got to my original blog, I felt it was time to have a look at what others considered to be the least favorite episodes of season 4. The majority response I received was any episode that had Hollis Mann in it went onto the least favorite list. If ever the production team wanted confirmation that the character of Mann was universally loathed, I think they just got it. There were other reasons for not liking particular episodes, as follows.

  • Angel of Death. This one was a huge disappointment to fans. Many fans pointed out that frankly it simply was season finale material, as most people had worked out the Jeanne Benoit was La Grenouille's daughter by this point anyway. More than one fan felt the sniffing drugs from the abdomen of the corpse was pretty disgusting and turned them off the episode completely.
  • In the Dark. Apart from the nauseating aspects of the Gibbs/Mann romance, many felt the plot was silly and far fetched.
  • Sharif Returns. This is THE least liked episode of season 4. Almost every respondent had this episode on their list. Most people complaining that the episode fell flat. The majority of anger was at Mann saving the day. For a few sick puppies (you know who you are *grins* ) the episode was redeemed by Gibbs taking some of his clothes off as he goes along the street.
Once again, thank you to everyone who responded to my original blog.

MIKE FRANKS AS BOYFRIEND MATERIAL

10th February 2010

Another in my slightly tongue-in-check series on the boyfriend/girlfriend potential of the various characters. This time I'm turning the microscope on Mike Franks.

Retired to Mexico, Mike Franks would be the perfect choice of partner if you wanted a laid back lifestyle. Actually, if Mike Franks was any more laid back he would be comatose.

He's family oriented, taking responsibility for his daughter-in-law and grand-daughter, and now also his daughter-in-law's mother.

Mike is loyal. Seems to view Gibbs as a son. Dropping everything to fly to Gibbs' side when he was injured and lost his memory. He also put his own life on the line to try and protect Gibbs from the consequences of Jenny's Parisian screw up. If Gibbs needs his help he will be there as soon as he possibly can. He protected the Colombian woman, Rose, getting her to safety, mostly because he believed, erroneously as it turned out, that the child she carried was Gibbs'.

On the downside, Mike Franks does seem to have some commitment issues. He left the woman who was carrying his son, but to be fair to him, he didn't know she was pregnant at the time. He has managed to get through most of his adult life without getting married, which seems to suggest mild commitment phobia.

If older men are your bag, Mike Franks seems to be a winner to me.

POWER DOWN

9th February 2010

Ratings season has returned in Australia, and along with it is the return of season 7 NCIS. We are picked up where we left off with the episode "Power Down". A cascading power failure leaves Washington, DC without electricity and a navy lieutenant is found dead, handcuffed to a wall at an ISP company that has sustained an armed attack on their server farm. Who and why are the questions, and they have to be answered by the team without any of their modern toys.

Loved Gibbs little back up kit with polaroid camera and other "ancient" goodies. The looks on McGee, Tony and Ziva's faces as they are handed the items is hilarious. Actually the scene made me feel old....I recognized everything. Including the old copying machine that Gibbs knew how to use. I had to use one in my very first job!

The scene in autopsy with people coming into autopsy to get their food from the freezer while Ducky is trying to give a report to Gibbs was very funny. As was a caffeine deprived Abby going beserk in her lab.

"Power Down" was written by Steven Binder and David North. These two writers, whether writing together or alone, give us wonderful scripts with very memorable lines.

Guard 1: What do these guys want?
Guard 2: Maybe they're pissed with our service.

Tony: You don't need electricity to use hand tools or drink a bottle of bourbon.

Tony: Fax is dead.
Ziva: Phone is dead.
McGee: Computer is dead. This is going to be a long case.

Abby: What does Ducky have that i haven't got?
Gibbs: Corpses.

Gibbs: So basically we have nothing.
Tony: Do blisters count?

Tony: You never see this on Columbo.

McGee: Does anyone else think this looks like a squirrel?

Gibbs: Book 'em, Dan-Ozzo.

Gibbs: She had a choice. That's what makes her a hero.

Tony: High tech case. Low tech ass kicking.

7.15 JACK KNIFE

9th February

Interesting title tonight's episode has; reeks of articulated lorries and motorway accidents. According to the synopsis there appears to be an illegal haulage company, which requires our intrepid team's attention, not to mention the re-appearance of Fornell with his goatee beard à la Don Quijote. Taking that into account does this mean tonight's tale will also be Quixotic with Sacks as Sancho Panza and Ziva as Dulcinea? Whatever the tale no doubt it will keep out the cold affecting a large part of the US and other areas of the Globe.

Of course Jack Knife also rhymes with the Louis Armstrong song Mack the Knife, and given Gibbs' Rule Nº 9 always carry a knife (knives if you're Ziva), the possibilities of tonight's tale multiply boggling the mind to extremes unknown.

Okay I'm rambling on a bit, I know, but bear with me please, I live in Europe so I shan't get to see this episode in quite a while so I have to content myself with something while in this cold turkey state, don't you agree? And it's always wise to acquiesce when mad person suggests something if only for your personal or mental safety.

Y con esto y un bizcocho se acabó lo que se dió.
