REMEMBER, REMEMBER THE THIRD OF NOVEMBER

All Hallows

Just thought I'd play around with the children's nursery rhyme commemorating Guy Fawkes' Night on 5th November, to make 3rd November because it's when we have another new episode of NCIS, namely Outlaws and Inlaws.

An interesting title, don't you think? With all kinds of connotations. The scriptwriters certainly love playing with words when creating episode titles, something which never fails to amaze me. I mean one thing is writing a script and another giving it a title. I wonder which comes first, the story or the title? A bit like which came first the chicken or the egg?. You know, if you have a title, how do you wrap the story round the title? Or if you have a story, how do you choose a title which sums up the events but without giving anything away or inducing erroneous interpretation thereof?

Have you seen the Behind the Scenes photos for the episode? They're really nice and we have lots of them - just click HERE and HERE if you haven't.

So just remember this Tuesday, 3rd November at 8:00 pm tune into the series, without lighting bonfires :-))) And enjoy, an old favourite will be appearing in the episode too, Muse Watson as Mike Franks.

Y con esto y un bizcocho se acabó lo que se dió.

PERSONAL LOW POINTS OF SEASON 1

31st October 2009

Time to take a look at my person low points of season 1.

  • The introduction of the character of Ari Haswari in the episode "Bete Noire". I disliked the character immediately.
  • Kate not killing Ari in "Bete Noire". Come on, this woman was supposed to have been on Presidential Protection Detail. A trained security operative. But she can't stab some lousy little terrorist to save Ducky and Gerald because of Ari's eyes. At that point in the episode I wanted to plant my boot in Kate's butt.
  • Chris Pacci being disemboweled in "Dead Man Talking". What can I say except ewwwwwwwwwwww!
  • Gibbs apparently shot dead in "Split Decision". I think I scared people three blocks away with my horrified scream.
Those were the only real low points of season 1 for me. What were yours?

FAVORITE EPISODES OF SEASON 6 REVISITED

29th October 2009

Due to the great response I got to the original blog, I thought I'd take a look at the episodes that the majority of respondents loved.

  • Last Man Standing. Two thirds of the team reunited and the mole dead.... or so we thought.
  • Capitol Offense. The appeal of this episode can be summed up in one word - Cupcake!
  • Heartland. Gibbs goes home and we meet his father. This was probably THE episode of season 6.
  • Cloak/Dagger. This double header left most fans, as bagpuss2 put it, emotional train wrecks.
  • Love and War. The subplots made this one a fan favorite. Especially the Beary Smiles scenes.
  • Broken Bird. The outstanding performance of David McCallum elevated this one to the status of fan favorite.
  • South by Southwest. Gibbs shooting down the helicopter delighted many fans. Though what made it popular was Tony's line "Sheriff. I think he's lost a contact."
  • Toxic. This one was a pure delight to Abby fans, and gave us the line "He kills bunnies!"
  • Semper Fidelis/Aliyah. This was really another double header. It gave us SecNav outlining Vance's role in operations to come, the fight between Tony and Rivkin, Ziva starting to unravel, and the dramatic, shocking ending with Ziva a prisoner.
General opinion seems to be that season 6 had more good episodes than bad. It's beginning to look like we may be able to say the same about season 7 as well.
