NCIS PROPS WE COVET

As you can see from the title I've been routing through this site again (got to get my inspiration from somewhere - LOL). To date we have 2 pages on NCIS props we as fans covet, some of which are curious to say the least. Take for example Abby's spider tatt, I'm sure if anyone really wanted this tatt all they would have to do would be to take a photo to their tattooist and ask for them to draw one and then tattoo it on your neck. Now, I am a lover of tattoos, and have several myself, and have already decided on the next couple I want doing; however, having said that, I am not sure whether I would be willing to have one on my neck. Not that tattoos hurt when they do them, you can feel a little sore afterwards depending on where you have it done or how much detail was involved, but the idea of one that size on the neck, gives me the willies.
Another popular prop is undoubtedly the infamous boat/boats in Gibbs' basement, not to mention the carpenter's tools that go with them; although I think we would all prefer to have Gibbs come and make us a boat in our garage or back garden.
The various cars used in the serious are also popular - Abby's red and black early 20th century style car along with its registration number 4NSCHIK, although it would probably not go very fast unless the engine has been souped up. Next we have Ducky's restored vintage Morgan, now there is an elegant car if ever there was one. To own one of those you would need a lot of cash, not to mention the upkeep to keep it in tip-top condition. A recent favourite is the yellow and black sports car Gibbs drove in Heartland and which we saw again in Silent Night. Another popular car was Tony's Mustang (I always thought that was a kind of horse until I started watching NCIS - this car is unknown in Europe), which we saw blow to smithereens in Bury Your Dead.
Other popular items among the props we covet, are the various garments worn by the characters. Gibbs' white undershirt (US)/ vest(UK)/ singlet(Aus)/T-shirt(most elsewhere)[remind me I need to do a blog on the differences between US and UK English] - I don't think there is anything special as such other than Gibbs has converted this into his personal dress style trademark. Ziva's orange beanie is another popular garment, very practical for the cold weather. Then there was Tony's snazzy grey suit at the beginning of the SWAK episode, apparently the blue boxers he wore in Under Covers is also a favourite. And of course, we can't forget Abby in either Marilyn Monroe fancy dress or her Barbie court outfit.
Finally, of course there are all the little knick-knacks that appear on the series, which take people's fancy, like Abby's studded collar, Tony's Mighty Mouse Stapler, McGee's manual typewriter, Ziva's Star of David pendant, Ducky's bowties, Fornell's hip flask, Vance's toothpicks, etc., etc.
We really are an avaricious lot :-)))

Ha llegado a mis lindos oídos que por fin los de LaSexta han reconocido que actualmente el Navy es la serie Nº 1 de los EEUU ¡Ya era hora! ¿Pero significará eso, que pronto veremos la 7ª temporada? Aunque mucho me temo que esa breva no caerá, si no la cuadri que estamos brindaríamos con Agua de Bilbao por lo menos.
Pues solo nos quedan 3 capítulos de la 6ª temporada en La Sexta y entonces se acabó la función y luego repes a tutiplén, y no es que nos importe ver repes, todo lo contrario. No, eso no es, sino larga espera para la siguiente temporada lo que nos quema. Por lo menos los repes podrían estar en versión original, ya que nos hemos aprendido los diálogos de tanto repetir, pero verla en inglés ahora sería guay, sobretodo para quienes el inglés no es su lengua materna, desde luego sería diver, y fijo que podría conseguir que algun alumno se apuntara verla en versión original.
Y entretanto a tocarnos la vaina. Cuando no hay más remedio lo veo otra vez en castellano, pero la verdad es que pierde muchísima y no tiene la misma emoción, vamos que donde está V.O. que me quiten lo bailao.
Me comentaron el otro día en FaceBook que en no sé que capítulo echado recientemente que hubo un lio con las voces de doblaje, por lo visto 'Abby' empezó hablando con la voz de 'Ziva' y 'Ziva' con la voz de Ziva y luego se rectificó. ¿sería que a la que dobla Abby se le pegaron las sábanas, o algo asi? ¡Qué fuerte! por no decir ¡qué poca seriedad! Si la persona que pone la voz alguien se palma, pues ¿qué vamos a hacer? Pero salvo eso, ¿qué otra excusa vale?.
Bueno, me paro ya antes de que suba al carro y vuelva a soltar una diatriba sobre los fallos y las excelencias de las voces de Navy dobladas al castellano, pero como tengo buen día, me portaré bien :-)

GIBBS AS FATHER FIGURE - ANOTHER LOOK

Due to the great response I got to my previous blog, I thought I'd take another quick look at the subject. Not that I need an excuse to look at Gibbs! *grins*
Most of you agreed with my assessment that Gibbs is the father figure to the younger members of the team. In "Reunion" it is made perfectly clear that Ziva considers Gibbs to be so. "Eli is dead to me. And the closest thing I have to a father is accusing me." The closest thing I have to a father. Those words say it all.
Sandbar17 pointed out the heart warming moment in "Last Man Standing" when Gibbs hugs Ziva upon her return to the team.
Elinor29 commented that Gibbs treats each member of the team differently as they're different people. The way any good Daddy would. She also pointed to the ending of episode "Family", where a wet Tony is sitting by the fire. He looks at his family gathered together. Daddy Gibbs, Brother Timmy and Sister Ziva. He puts Jeanne's note into the fire and walks back to rejoin his family.
Maybe we need a new style of fan fiction. One that explores the familial relationships between the members of the team. What do you think?

NCIS SOUNDTRACK VOL. 2
8th October
You've read right, it's volume 2 of the music that's heard on NCIS. Member MC23 kindly posted this up along with the link to Amazon, as it's now available for pre-order, and will be released in November this year. I should point out that this pre-order is available on Amazon.com not the subsidiaries, the UK one will notify you when it becomes available for purchase, as I imagine the other Amazon sites will.
At the moment the tracks available in this volume 2 are unavailable, although no doubt they soon will be, or one of you sharpeyed members will kindly inform us - Please.
However, given the excellent quality of the previous one, there is no reason to expect anything less. Furthermore, I seem to recall some of you saying that were songs/music missing on the original soundtrack CD that you would have liked there, so probably these will be on this CD.
The sleeve of this album is much nicer than the previous one. As you can see it's a variation of the cast S6 photo, except that instead of a broken vase of flowers, it's a broken electric guitar. on the Amazon site you can zoom on the photo and see more details. I must admit I rather like the different shades of burnished gold used, the sleeve of Vol. 1 was rather cold and clinical in comparison, whereas this one transmits warmth.
What more can I say, except that I'm looking forwarding to receiving this CD on its release. The price is inexpensive when compared to those of other soundtracks given the popularity of this series. It would be nice if the soundtrack were nominated for a music prize too.
