Friendship Time Line
Season 1
First met over a lunch date. Went to poetry reading at a coffee shop. McGee spent the night at her apartment, sleeping and doing "other things" in her coffin".
Season 2
McGee now officially works for Gibbs and helps Abs in the lab often
Season 3
Abby spend the night at McGee's apartment because she is being stalked by her crazy ex, Abby and McGee get into a Gibb Slap fight in her lab that lasts the entire ep., Abby gets jealous because she thinks Tim likes Ziva, Abs loses her crime scene virginity and McGee turns her into a super agent with his hat, Abby hugs McGee when they find out Gibbs is OK and McGee gives her a hug in "Kill Ari", Abby comforts McGee when he thinks he killed an under cover cop.
Season 4
Abby gives McGee the epic squg (squatting hug) after one of his friends dies, McGee almost lets Abby get hurt by a killer Humvee but she forgives him and hugs him "Abby style" (around the neck from behind) he then pulls her closer and holds her hand tight awwwww, they spend lots of time in her lab and share many hugs while killing computer viruses.
Season 5
McGee comforts Abs after Jenny dies and holds her hand, Abby tells McGee she loves him and that "..that should be enough.", when Abby is bored she goes to the squadroom and drapes her arms around McGee while he is working on his computer, McGee is very unhappy when a certain Fred Rinnert comes in to Abby's life,

They really need to get back together.
But I know how writers hate to do that, because it messes things up in the storyline, etc.
But come on.

The Squg Scene was not after McGee shoots the cop, it was after the two NCIS agents were blown up by a suicide bomber in Season 4 ep Gace Period!!
