Jay Leno Show Jay Leno videos

Jay introduced Mark
Harmon as a star of TV's #1 show, NCIS. Mark walked out looking really good in an outfit of black jacket, black jacket, black sweater with a med. dark gray stripe around the neck and sleeves with a light gray t-shirt on underneath. Looked gooood.

Mark HarmonMark saluted the members of the Navy that were in the audience then sat down and chatted a few pleasantries Leno-"How are you?" MH-"So how are YOU?" They chatted about whether Ty (Mark's younger son) had gotten his driver's license and Mark commented that Ty had taken his own route at his own speed towards getting his license, that he was "perfectly content to let Mom and Dad drive him for the rest of his life." He said that they did take the boys out car shopping, but they didn't get the shiny new stuff on the lot. Sean's first vehicle was an older El Camino and Ty's was about a 15 year old Volvo. (Mark stated as well that Sean is in film school and Ty is still in high school.) They started talking about Mark's first car. A 1928 Model A Ford. Jay asked "Did you buy it new?" Mark just laughed. Mark as a freshman in high school kept walking past this vehicle and decided that he wanted to get it. Mark went home and told his dad (at age 13) that he had found a car he wanted to buy. And his dad said "Great! What are you going to buy it with?" So Mark saved up and managed to buy the car for $300. It had a blown engine. The first year and a half he owned it he took it apart and rebuilt the engine, because it wasn't running. Jay asked how bored his kids are when Mark tells that story. Mark replied "Really bored."

He did admit to driving it before he was of legal age to do so (mid 1960's) and told a story of driving down "Sunset" (Boulevard) with a "black and white" (police) keeping right beside him. He was pretty nervous and just kept going. Finally when he pulled up to a stop light and he glanced over and the policeman gave him a very appreciative look. He said he made a right turn and got out of there as soon as he could. (Jay commented that he keeps getting cars and doesn't let them go. He has a huge car collection.) He drove that car until he was 20 (1971) and then sold it.

Mark continued, saying that later, when he had the means, he started watching in "Hemmings Motor News" to see if he could locate the roadster pickup truck since he had the VIN number and it had a few notable features and would have liked to have gotten it back.
Leno also loves reading through Hemmings as well. Jay admitted that he loves that magazine. (For those not understanding, Hemmings is considered one of "THE" magazines, if something 3/4" thick can be called a magazine, in the antique/classic car world. Full of classified ads of just about any car or car parts you can imagine and a few articles as well of restored vehicles and other related things.) Finally he located it near Chicago but it had just been sold to someone in New Hampshire. Mark went ahead and contacted the new owner and asked if it were possible to buy the car back from him. Sadly the new owner's asking price Mark stated was about "300 times" the price he had paid for it when he first bought the car. And the owner expected Mark to also buy him a replacement! So the car is still in New Hampshire. Jay says, talking to the audience, "This is a guy's version of a romantic story...And you never got reunited...(fake sobs)."

Jay said that Mark was a carpenter at one time. Mark said yes, but he couldn't make a living at it. He was a roofer, framer, did finish work. He built his own house at one point. Mark was actually accepted to Law School. He said it wasn't true but it was like that as the professor gave the speech of "look to the person on the right and the one on the left. Only one of you is still going to be here in 6 months" and Mark said "See ya!" Mark then had jobs in a media buying firm (marketing/sales), An Adidas salesman.
He did say his dad was supportive of him in finding a career that he liked, though he wasn't overly thrilled with the fact when Mark had gone from a small house and an expense account selling shoes to (indrawn breath) acting.

(Commercial break)
On return Jay talked about the fact that the show had completed 100 shows and then asked how many were done now. "157." Mark talked about the 100th episode party and said there really wasn't much of a party, the network just had a big cake for them. But it was a great thing since he had been on shows that the cake said "2" and they were told to grab a piece on the way out the door. Jay was appreciative of the fact that the show is continuing to build in season 7. Mark talked about the fantastic cast and crew at NCIS, that they all had fun being together, the fact that they had retained their writers for several years, which is hard for a long running show to do, and that working there is still "A joy to do." (Sounds like he'll be sticking around! =) )

Then Jay made Mark "Earn Your Plug" by guessing what he was touching. First up...silicone breast implants. Mark didn't really say any thing but after squishing one for a bit he just kind of tucked it in his chest pocket. Next up...raw squid. Mark couldn't figure out what they were in spite of touching, and smelling them. But the faces he made...., finally the audience screamed...(cue card that Jay held up) the cover was removed on the final item (audience screams again) and Mark sticks his hand down in a fish bowl full of live feeder crickets. He noted that it was alive...but couldn't come up with what they were. So off came the blindfold and he found out.

Roll the promo piece...It's Gibbs talking with a beautiful redhead (I think I remembered that right) and she asked if he "liked it rough." He had a return comment, but I didn't get it written down...=( As they cut back from the promo, we see Mark chasing a couple of crickets across the production floor, picking them up and returning them to their bowl....(what a guy!)
