How they met: Ari took Ducky and Gerald hostage, then when Kate came down to bring Ducky evidence, he nabbed Kate, too.
How long were they together: A year, maybe...before he killed her... They weren't together/in a relationship. Ari was taken with Kate after he first met her, but he was a killer and she was an NCIS Agent, there were no romantic feelings or 'hookups' between them.
