Character Backstory:

Season 1:
  • In "Bete Noire", Gerald is shot by Ari Haswari

Season 2:

Season 3:
  • In "Kill Ari (Part 1)" and "Kill Ari (Part 2)", Ari kidnaps Gerald to force Ducky to a meet. Gerald exchanges places with Ducky and Gerald goes back to NCIS to tell NCIS what happened.
  • It is shown that Ducky still has a good friendship with Gerald but Abby almost had forgotten him.

  • Gerald is played by Pancho Demmings. He is Ducky's assistant in season 1, until episode 1x16 Bete Noire, when Gerald is shot in the shoulder by terrorist Ari Haswari when Ari took Ducky, Gerald and Kate hostage down in autopsy. As a result of the injury, Gerald had to go into rehab for his shoulder.
  • Gerald is mentioned a few times after Bete Noire, but we do not see him again until episode 3x01 Kill Ari part 1 and 3x02 Kill Ari part 2 when Ari uses him to kidnap Ducky. Ari asks if he is back at work yet and Gerald says he was going back next week. When Ari lets Gerald go, he went to Ducky's car like Ducky told him to so he could drive straight to NCIS headquarters, but Gerald manages to strip the brakes on the old Morgan, much to Ducky and Ari's disgust. Ari allows him to leave in his car when he does drive straight to NCIS headquarters to let Gibbs know what was going on.
  • When Gerald was working for Ducky he found that he could tune out from Ducky's stories by listening to his mp3 player, much to Ducky's annoyance. But he still did all his work for Ducky.
