September 2, 1951. In the richest gene-pool convergence in human history, Thomas Mark Harmon is born to celebrated All-American football star, fighter pilot, and war hero Tom Harmon, and stunning Hollywood actress and pin-up girl Elyse Knox.

Following first in his father's footsteps, Mark plays two seasons as starting quarterback for the UCLA Bruins. His 17-5 football career includes a memorable trouncing of the defending-champion Cornhuskers, and the 1973 NFF Award for All-Around Excellence.

Mark now pursues his mother's legacy, landing some minor TV acting roles and supplementing his income as a tennis-shoe salesman. In 1978 he stars in the short-lived cop-and-dog series, Sam. In the late 70s he also dates singer Karen Carpenter.
