I am a little behind on watching NCIS and I just finished the last episode and just like everyone I was going to be so mad if they let him die. I googled around and found this article here and here is what it says about Ducky for next season, " On the fate of Ducky (and Palmer): "David [McCallum] and I talked about it for months, and he’s been preparing for it. He was absolutely 100 percent willing to play along, and we wanted to be very secretive about it and keep it under wraps, and it’s really going to give his character a new perspective on life coming back from what he experienced."
"I’m not going to play games with people. People know he signed a new contract and he is coming back, so it’ll be more about the way the character evolves and the fact that he’s got Palmer there to help him."
"As a medical examiner who deals with the dead, and deals with death on a daily basis, to have an experience like that is significant. And we’ll play that throughout the season." Thank goodness because the show would not be the show without him. That would be like taking Gibbs off the show. I am not too fond of Jamie Lee Curtis's character either. Her and Gibbs do not mesh very good at all. Hope this helps everyone who is worried about Ducky :)

i was watchin the season finale of season 9 of NCIS and (sorry to say) ducky dies . i think has a heart attack or somethin because what happened was he was at jimmy's wedding and.. and there was an explosion in director vances car in front of abby's room set of a terrorist... so he got a call from them and said somethin (they didnt say) but it was about the explosion or the bodies? and when he hung up he got this look on his face and fell and died.... (he was walking on the beach) ..................................i think he is dead because his eyes stayed open and the rest of the show (aka. repeating NCIS) was silent .........

He is NCIS's very own cartoon character. A remake and remolding of the name Donald Duck. I'm happy that he finally got a real story line, but it breaks my heart that it has to be such a horrible one, I hope that he recovers well.

Has anyone noticed some oddities that pop up sometimes in Ducky's lab? I could swear that once Ducky handed Palmer a rack of golf tees and told him to take those blood samples up to Abby. And today, on "Faking it" Ducky was talking with Gibbs while standing over a corpse and waving a large soup ladle over the body. I wonder if Mr. McCallum is throwing in his own little items of business. I'm going to be watching him more carefully in future. Ducky is my favorite anyway.

I get a chuckle out of it when he talks to the dead. But then, it shows he cares even though they are deceased. His interactions with Gibbs are great, he will tell him like it is, unlike the younger members of the team. His interactions with his mother are outrageous as well! he gets all flustered trying to deal with her. I laughed when he said it was "WWE night in the Mallard household. He didn't have the heart to tell his mother it wasn't real." They should have her come on more often.... it is a riot to watch some of those scenes.

Ducky could be president of the NCIS Morgan Car Club. If someone knows anything about cars, perhaps they could create a page? My old boss has a Morgan: he was on the waiting list for over 10 years. They are truly hand made, like a couture dress. They are very cute. Like Ducky.
