Character Backstory:

Season 3:
  • Initially played a NCIS MTAC Tech in "Mind Games" and "The Voyeur's Web" before being promoted as Director Shepard's assistant. This was probably most likely because Director Shepard spent some time in MTAC, she may have decided for her to be her assistant.



Season 4:



Season 5:
  • Has not appeared since Season 4; though probably still in the same role.
Season 6 and beyond:
  • Unlikely that she stayed on for Director Vance and still hasn't appeared since.

TRIVIA:


  • We know very little about Cynthia, except that she joined more or less at the same time as Jen Shepard, since she was never mentioned when Morrow was Director, so it's to be presumed she either entered at the same time as Jen or was upgraded from a lower clerical position.
    She's often at loggerheads with Gibbs because he never waits for permission to enter the Director's office and just simply barges in without a by or leave.
  • When Gibbs had to act as locum director because Jen was at high-powered meeting in France, there was a constant battle of wills between him and Cynthia. And while Cynthia seemed to be very loyal to Jen, her attitude was also rather sycophantic, if we remember the way she thanked Jen for the Hermès scarf over the telephone.
  • We don't know whether she will continue in Season 6 with Vance as Director, so for that we will have to wait and see.
  • Before Director Shepherd took over from Director Morrow, Cynthia was seen in one episode of Season Two, working in MTAC, helping Gibbs with a video-conference. Her name was not mentioned at the time.
