WARNING Ultimate trivium:
Ducky corrects Tony on the use of "whom." ' "Who" is the nominative case.' He's correct, and 'nominative' is correct. Lately all grammar handbooks want to rename the nominative case and call it 'subjective' instead. Ducky's right; they are wrong. Next Ducky says, ' "Whom" is objective, and always follows a preposition.' He's half right. It is objective, but it could be a direct object or an indirect object, both of which are objective case uses. Immediately after, Ziva uses "whomever" incorrectly: 'Probably to make the delivery to whomever hired him.' Her error: 'whoever hired him' would be a noun clause, and the phrasal object of 'to.' And ' whoever' should be the subject of the verb 'hired,' not the object of the preposition ' to.' Now a further note, even more trivial: Ducky's Scottish education (Edinburgh) necessarily means that he can read, write, and speak Latin. If he were consistent, he would probably have pointed out the differences among the three objective case uses: accusative (direct object), dative (indirect object), and ablative (object of a preposition). The German language retains both accusative and dative, but has lost the ablative. The English objective case sjubsumes all three, and rolls them into one. I apologise for the prolixity, but in my defence, I'm a retired Professor of English.

Here are the overnight Nielsen Ratings for Episode 14 "Love and War"...Great numbers again for NCIS going against the ratings powerhouse American Idol...No surprise though that NCIS brought in its usual numbers...The NCIS fans stick with the show no matter what...
Keeping in mind that the numbers will change because there’s a minute or two of American Idol rolling over into Fringe, Fringe averaged 12.091 million and a 4.8/11 (rating/share) among 18-49 year olds, second in the hour to NBC’s The Biggest Loser (12.92, 5.0/12). Again, the half hourly drops were noticeable for Fringe going from 13.206 million and a 5.2/12 the first half hour to 10.975 million and a 4.3/10. Minus the small portion of American Idol included in the first half hour the gap wouldn’t be as wide and based on last year, I’d have to guess FOX feels pretty good about Fringe, even the second half hour. A new episode of NCIS impressively still pulled 19.04 million and a 3.9/10 up against American Idol at 8pm. Over 1/3rd of the 18-49 year old watching TV from 9pm-10pm were watching either American Idol or NCIS. Show --------- 18-49 Rating / Share ---------- Total Viewers in Millions 1.American Idol ------ 9.6 / 24 ------- 25.20 Mil. 2.NCIS -------- 3.9 / 10 ---------- 19.04 Mil. 3.The Mentalist (R) -------- 2.9 / 7 -------- 15.13 Mil. 4.Biggest Loser (9pm) ------ 4.9 / 11.5 -------- 12.92 Mil. 5.Without A Trace ------- 2.7 / 7 ------------ 12.76 Mil.
