NCIS EPISODE RECAP
"FRIENDS & LOVERS"
airdate: February 13, 2007
written by:
John C. Kelley
directed by: Dennis Smith
SYNOPSIS
When a dead body of a sailor is found in an abandoned part of the town, all the evidence seem to point that the person died from unintentional drug overdose, but when the team uncovers more evidence, it turns out to be a murder. Meanwhile, Tony bonds with a local detective while working on the case.
FUNNY MOMENTS

  • As usual, the first scene in the episodes after the credits is hilarious.

  • Ziva asking if there were any questions and Tony asks if she had killed anyone with a spoon. Ziva: "No, but I am seriously considering it!"

  • Tony confessing that he clogged (like tap dancing) in a summer camp!

  • Michelle trying to throw the knife and it flies backwards and stabs a wall right in front of Gibbs who was coming out of the elevator then.

  • Ziva casually following McGee into the men's room.

  • Ducky scolding the dead boy for living unhealthily.

  • Abby caught in her lab challenging one of her machines to a duel.

  • When Abby was telling Gibbs the names of the compounds she found Gibbs said: "Friends of yours, Elf Lord." Abby had to remind him that they compounds and not characters from Lord of the Rings!

  • Jeanne bringing Tony a platinum bracelet for Valentine's Day saying he belongs to a mental ward.

  • Gibbs and the Metro detective interrogating the junkie.

  • Ziva defending her point "like shooting fish in a pond." Carson correcting her saying "a barrel" And Ziva convinces him by saying why would a fish be doing in a barrel?

  • Ziva: "Why haven't you breasted them?" Tony to a flustered Carson: "She means busted."

  • The detective asking questions at Abby's lab and Gibbs telling him to: "Stop interrupting and listen." Carson laughs receiving a glare from the detective.

  • Gibbs using the famous "You think DiNozzo" with John in Abby's lab.

  • Ducky: "Poison has been the weapon of choice for women for centuries, except they tend to hide in food rather than drink." Gibbs: "That would explain why my last ex-wives spent so much time in the kitchen."

  • Abby, Ziva and Michelle dressed up for a night out.

  • Tony's reaction to seeing McGee with the dressed up NCIS girls and hearing Gibbs saying they had someone rich and famous.

  • Upon hearing Tony say he should write a book, Gibbs telling Tony maybe he should read one first.

  • Ziva: Where are we going? Tony: We aren't going anywhere. Ziva: Who are you taking, McGee?

  • Abby hitting McGee with the boot after the club.

  • Ziva dancing like Shakira in front of Tony who doesn't even look at her, while all men passing by can't take their eyes off her.

DEVELOPMENT/INSIGHTS
  • More hints that there's something unusual about Tony's relationship with Jeanne; when Carson asks if Tony plans to marry her, Tony says that he "couldn't live a lie."

  • McGee uses his Pen name, Thom E. Gemcity, to get into the club because the guard at the front door is a fan of "Deep Six". DiNozzo gets jealous of McGee because he is a famous novelist and Tony isn't.

  • Ziva, Abby, and Lee really looked sexy in their outfits and it really caught the photographer's attention and was the first time they went undercover together and with McGee, who is a very famous Novelist, which makes Tony jealous.

  • McGee is really, really creeped out by maggots, almost phobic.

  • Tony enjoyed dancing during summer camp as a youth.

EPISODE TRIVIA

  • Tony and Jeanne tell each other 'I love you' at the end of their phone call, except later in the season it becomes a big deal that Tony can't say 'I love you'.

  • This Episode was aired one day before 'Valentine's day'. This could be the reason for the love-theme. "Friends and Lovers" was the first Valentine's-day episode on NCIS.

  • The email that Jeanne has received in "4x13 Sharif Returns" was from JCARS@zedlink.com.
We learned in this episode, that "JCARS" stands for John Carson.

  • Detective J.D. Morris was played by Michael Whaley. This was not the first time that Whaley played the role of a Detective in TV. In the first season of "Profiler" he was "Det. Nathan Brubaker" in 22 episodes. Additionally, he played recurring roles in "CSI:Miami" (7 x Detective Bernstein), "Early Edition" (6 x Detective Paul Armstrong) and "JAG" (2 x Detective Carlton).

  • In this episode we learn how to pretend to show too much from naked corpse: Just spot with a extremely bright light to the specific regions of the body.

callerbear DiNozzo was a clogger! 0 Jun 27 2011, 11:46 PM EDT by callerbear

Clogging is a form of dance that uses strikes of the shoes against the floor to make a rhythm, and is actually the ancestor of modern tap dancing. For the last 50 years, cloggers have generally worn tap shoes (NOT wooden-soled clogs), and often dance in a group with everyone doing the same steps at the same time.

So, essentially, Tony was saying that he was a pretty mean tap dancer at summer camp!
