Light Sleeper
Synopsis:
The NCIS team investigates a murder of two Marine wives, and must find the murderers before they attack their next target, another woman.

New Character Development / Insights:
  • Gibbs gives McGee a short yet forceful lesson in investigative work. Gibbs tells McGee to run down every lead and angle and to assume everything he knows is a lie until it checks out. Gibbs tells McGee, "The only time I want you to stop, is when you're satisfied."
  • Ziva is becoming more observant, a better crime scene investigator
  • McGee knows nothing about holding a baby.
  • Tony is growing up and shows compassion for Yoon's husband.
  • Gibbs shows his skill in handling babies and preparing bottles.
Funny Moments:
  • Tony looks for any reason to avoid sensitivity training including injury - to which Ziva happily obliges.
  • Abby fills in Gibbs' half of the conversation in her lab as she's examining SSG Dawson's personal effects.
  • Ziva's & Tony's conversation in the Interrogation Observation room.
Trivia:
  • Several times - not just in this episode - Gibbs tells McGee, "Don't apologize; it's a sign of weakness". It's a direct quote and reference to John Ford's "She Wore a Yellow Ribbon", in which John Wayne's character, Nathan Brittles, always says this to his subalterns.
  • "Policed their brass": military term for picking up the remains of a fired bullet.
