Kill Ari, Part II
Synopsis:
Still stressed over Kate's death, Gibbs is even more hurt when Ari kidnaps Ducky and decides to play with his mind. Gibbs sends Tony to follow Ziva, and after Jenny and Gibbs are almost shot to death, he is even more determined to finish once and for all with Ari, and Ziva's strange connection to Ari will be just the help that he needs.

New Character Development / Insights:
  • Ziva is a swimmer. She can do a flip turn.
  • When Tony wears undergarments, he's a boxers guy.
  • Ziva does not keep kosher (she eats pepperoni pizza).
  • Ziva's dossier on Gibbs included knowledge about his first wife and daughter, a part of his life his team doesn't know about.
  • Ari is shooting the women in Gibb's life to cause him pain because he knows about Gibb's 1st wife and daughter
  • Ziva had a little sister, Tali, who was killed when she was 16 by a Hamas suicide bomber. Ziva said Tali was "the best of us"; she had compassion. Ziva understands Gibbs because like him, she was obsessed with revenge.
  • Ziva says she was not recruited for Mossad, she volunteered, "Israeli sense of duty", and had been Mossad long before Tali's death.
  • Tony accepting McGee more - understanding and appreciating how hard it is for McGee to go and look at Kate, he is not as flippant as he makes out, he does care and is caring
  • Jenny evidently still has feelings for Gibbs and is struggling to overcome them; she stops Gibbs every time he mentions their past experiences together
  • Ducky restored his car, showing technical skills beyond autopsy..
  • "A woman hasn't been born yet who could intimidate Anthony DiNozzo," except his mother ("mothers don't count") and divorce attorneys ("worse than mothers") ... though Kate's ghost argues with him that Ziva also intimidates him.
  • Jenny feels she owes Ziva because Ziva saved Jenny's life in Cairo 2 years prior
  • Ziva is Ari's half sister & she confirms Director David of Mossad is their father.
  • Ziva chooses to save Gibbs instead of her brother, earning his trust & loyalty.
Funny Moments:
  • Tony and Gibbs bonding over pepperoni pizza.
  • McGee "hugs" Abby while she's at his desk.
  • Gibbs calling Jenny to ask her to join him out in the field. "I need a partner for the night. You up for it?" Jenny: "Jethro, don't you know any other women?
  • Gibbs and Fornell's tête-à-tête on the park bench.
  • Ziva's first mangled idiom; she calls Gibbs a "broken tape" [[broken record]].
  • Tony's "Hackensack Nudist Society" spiel.
  • McGee bending down, trying to see on screen the license plate in the satellite image of the black Suburban. Abby: It's not a dress, McGee. You can't look up it to see what you want."
  • Fornell and Gibbs meeting in the rain, on a bench. Raindrops drip off Gibbs ear and nose. It's raining, Gibbs. Uh-huh. Fornell sits by him and shares his umbrella. You smell like a wet dog. Well, there was one, here underneath the bench, when I got here. I put him in the gazebo. Why aren't you in the gazebo? Dog smells like hell. So why didn't you leave him under--never mind.... Fornell lies to Gibbs; he does not know who Gibbs lies to, being at the bottom of the armed Fed food chain -- and not married.... You ever go to the movies? I build a boat. Well, you and that dog are gonna need one.

  • Sasha Alexander and Rudolf Martin are listed as Special Guest Stars.
  • Snipers' brass is like signing their signature, which is why they police their brass
  • Gibbs: "The Bravo 51 he fired is called a 'Kate'." Kate stands for "Kill All The Enemy."
  • Mossad use Sierra 6.5 hollow point bullets
  • The flashbacks everyone is seeing at the funeral are: McGee from 2x01 "See No Evil," Ducky from 2x22 "SWAK," Tony from 2x06 "Terminal Leave."
  • Abby comes from New Orleans (Jefferson Parish), which is also Pauly Perrette's birthplace. After the funeral she plays so called Hot Jazz. (A traditional Jazz-Funeral is escorted by a Marching Band who plays "Hymn" = blues/sad music, pointing to the afterlife on the way TO the funeral. On the way back FROM the funeral, the band plays "Hot Jazz" = light hearted, earthly music). The song is called "The Viper" from the Associated Production music album "Dixieland".
  • The bagpipe ringtone on Ducky's mobile comes from the album "Scotland the Brave/The Rowan Tree" arranged by Rob Mathieson.
  • Kate 'wears' the Presidential Medal of Freedom supposedly from Gibbs and endorsed by the director in 3x01.

          I was watching this episode again a little while ago. Am I seeing things, or is Agent Gibbs holding the Director's hand as they walk from Agent Todd's coffin?

          Any info on the meaning of Gibbs sqeezing Ziva's thumb after she has killed Ari and admits he's her half-brother?
