The Meat Puzzle
Synopsis:
A "meat puzzle" starts when Ducky identifies the pieces of three bodies that were stuffed inside a barrel few months ago. They turn out to be bodies of a sheriff and a prosecutor that worked with Ducky on a rape case 10 years ago. Gibbs believes that Ducky might be the next victim, so he orders the team to keep him and his mother safe. Even so, Ducky gets kidnapped, and now the team must find him before it's too late.

New Character Development / Insights:
  • They'll all do anything for Ducky even if it's to herd Corgis and explain something 600 times to Mrs. Mallard.
  • Yes, Ducky can get scared.
  • This episode is the first time Ducky calls Mr. Palmer "Jimmy." Jimmy is very happy about this, even though he had to annoy an already frazzled Ducky to get there.
Funny Moments:
  • Ducky's mother mistakes Tony for a furniture moving Italian gigolo, and then forgets who he is and threatens him due to her dementia.
  • Mrs. Mallard wishes to see Kate's underwear to determine "her intentions"
  • Tony is coerced by Mrs. Mallard into playing stylist to the corgis. When Kate takes over, he informs her that his current blow-dry client is Contessa. And "Contessa likes it rough."
  • The visit to the taxidermist brother's home, where he stuffs animals. He has a panda but points out that, because they are protected species, it is actually a pretend one, made up of other animals that are dyed to look right. Tony behaves inappropriately, as you would expect.
  • Ducky to Gibbs after his rescue: 'What kept you?' That is what Sean Connery said in Goldfinger when the CIA disarmed the bomb in the Fort Knox Gold vault.
  • Kate is upset because her date was Tony's Fraternity brother who told him what they did and Kate is really blowing her top at Tony.
Trivia:
  • Kate asks Gibbs what Ducky looked like when he was younger, to which Gibbs replies, "Ilya Kuryakin". David McCallum is best known for the role of Illya Kuryakin in "The Man from U.N.C.L.E."

Holy cow! This episode reminded me of all the reasons i cant watch Criminal minds anymore. What a scary story! and the mother (the villian's mom)...wow. words fail me.
