Minimum Security

Synopsis:
A mysterious death leads Gibbs and the team into the heart of the terrorist detention center at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

New Character Development / Insights:
  • Gibbs is, indeed, a bastard to Tony about Paula. This actually is his weird way of protecting Tony, though. According to Gibbs a romance between the two would be doomed from the start, more or less.
  • Kate watches out for Tony, defends him against Gibbs, and she tries to make him feel better when he's hurt by Paula. In the end she gives him the push he needs to talk to Paula again. All this shows that she cares about him, even though he annoys the heck out of her.
Funny Moments:
  • THE IGUANA!!!
  • Tony and Kate fighting over rooms.
  • Ducky tells Abby about his mum's choice of bedtime attire.
  • Gibbs' face when Abby tells him how much she spent on perfume.
Trivia:
  • Paula Cassidy and Tony develop a "thing." Kate and Tony fight over which room each will have and in the midst of this hassle Gibbs takes the best one.
  • One of the best comic scenes in the entire NCIS run has to be Tony waking up to find an iguana sitting on his pillow. His terrified girlish scream, which bring Gibbs and Kate running, guns drawn.
  • Oddly enough, Tony the Movie Buff does not know the Alan Ladd movie Shane, nor has he seen The Maltese Falcon in this episode.
  • Kate wears a shirt from USC (University of Southern California).Sasha Alexander was a student at USC. She said in an interview, that this shirt was part of a joke with Mark Harmon in this scene. You have to know, that USC und UCLA (University of California, Los Angeles) are rivals and that Mark Harmon played football very successfully as a Quarterback for UCLA.
  • Jessica Steen played the role of "Dr. Elizabeth Weir" in "Stargate SG-1" (7x21 und 7x22).
    But "Dr. Elizabeth Weir" in the Spin-Off "Stargate Atlantis" was played by Torri Higginson.

        OK so maybe it's just me ;) but watching this ep again I couldn't help but see Gibbs' comment that romance between agents "never works" as having a wistful kind of undertone of "I really like you Kate, but it's never going to happen..."
