Awesome!
May 21 2010, 6:30 AM EDT
I am such an Aussie wannabe. I love America, but I am sad at the way it has headed. I have never met a mean Australian. You all have been really nice to me. I would move to Australia tomorrow if I could. It is sad to leave one's own country because of fear of your freedoms being taken away, but that is how I see it nowadays. My grandpop fought in WWII and was captured. He suffered for my country. So it is not something I consider lightly.Your pictures make me want to go even more. I have friends there who I want to see in this lifetime. I think I can compare how I feel to Gibbs when he left NCIS. He was frustrated with the way things were and he felt the need to just leave it behind. But I am not a quitter. ;) I do not know the meaning of the word. I must update my bio. It needs a fresh coat of paint and some new paintings on the wall. Sincerely, Kim (In Music City, USA) |

Thanks for writing me. We have problems here but not like you guys have had. Australia is considered a possible target. We have a diverse lot of weather in many parts of our country. The outback is very dry and you wouldn't venture out there without water at any time of the year. We have our mean people here too. But if you ever get the chance to come over you'll need to stay awhile if you want to see it all. Don't come in summertime, you might melt....lol....

Well, I live on about the same parallel North as Melbourne is in the south, meaning that we are equally close to the equator. So I know how hot it can be. But we are also very humid and that makes it worse. We have a few months of very bitter winter in January through maybe mid-March. But before that, it is jacket-weather. Well, for me it is because I come from the northern US and am used to having all 4 seasons! :) Now I live an hour outside of Nashville, Tennessee and less than 30 minutes from Manchester, Tennessee, where Bonnaroo (Music Festival) is each year.Australia is a target because you are allies with us and still enjoy freedom. That should not deter you. My life changed forever on Sept. 11, 2001. I know exactly where I was and what I was doing and who told me to turn on the radio when the first plane hit. I was driving cars for Nissan, new cars, from the plant to their shipping points on their property. Every time I got in a car, I would turn on the radio. When I got home, I could not believe what I was seeing. My country, my fellow Americans, MURDERED. I was scared for a long time but decided that I had to stop being scared because that is what our enemies wanted. I flew in a plane for the first time in March of 2002. (I am terrified of heights.) My 12-year-old niece will never know a world without this threat. And yet, my fellow countrymen seem to have forgotten what happened. I will NEVER forget. I forgive because that is what I must do for myself and as my duty as a Christian. But I will never FORGET. I am thinking of the song "Do You Remember" by Darryl Worley. Awesome song. Catch you later! My head is going to explode if I do not dim the lights and take something for this migraine. ~Kim |

I hope your migraine goes away soon. They are debilitating aren't they. My teeth usually ache as well after awhile. Thankfully I don't get too many. I live in a semi-rural area. We still have wallabies and kangaroos cross the street in back block areas. Plenty of natural bush with possums and koalas.....snakes...yick! *shudders*

I have never seen a Kangaroo or Koala in person, unless it was at the zoo. But we have plenty of Possums and snakes and raccoons here! And deer! I nearly smashed into one about 10 years ago.My migraine is almost gone. I feel much better. I need to go to bed! |
